Clear coat faded on right fender… can I paint it myself?
I had some scratches on my right fender, so I let my local bodyshop to paint it about a year ago.
Well, the clear coat completely faded and now the paint looks dull after two years.
The shop is now out of business and I was wondering whether I could paint the clear coat on the fender myself to save some money?
Is it possible or should I take it to a bodyshop?
What type of clear coat should I use and where to get… also how much it usually cost to paint the clear coat on right fender?
Thanks in advance.

Your clear should not fade. It can get fine scratches, and may give the appearance of fade. I use a fine cut polish or a Meguires scratch remover and a orbital buffer.
As far as cost yourself, you can get a 2 pints of clear and hardener for less than $50. You will need a decent sprayer and air compressor, and wet sandpaper and lots of elbow grease. You can look on Paintscratch.com, they sell clear in a rattle can.
Good luck

Well if the shop painted it and it faded, then imagine how much worse a spray-can or first time DIY job will look.
The bottom line is that if some gently polishing (fine cut) doesn't remove the problem, the only good long-term solution is to have a shop re-spray it.
