Coils for $58 W/ Lifetime warranty

I bought a coil today to replace a bad one and it was only 58 dollars w/ tax from o'reilly auto parts and it comes with a lifetime warranty Do the oem coils come with any warranty? Do other autopart stores offer warrantys? I know advance auto doesnt carry them and autozone's coils are like 68 dollars a peice.

if you get the grey dot nissan ones, your coil problems should be over. Ive had my grey dots for... many miles, ill say about 40k, and no worries (as far as coils go) yet. I don't think its covered under warranty, cuz i paid for mine and i better not have wasted money if its covered under warranty........................... heh...

Coils for $58 W/ Lifetime warranty

My CEL (Check Engine Light) is throwing a code for "Failed Ignition Coil on Cylinder 2" on my '00 Nissan Maxima SE. Mechanic (who is a friend of mine) said it's an easy replacement. Parts salesman recommends I replace all 6 of the ignition coils.

What would the group recommend? If I'm replacing 1, should I replace all 6 at the same time? Cost for OEM Nissan part no. 22448-A33LH seems to be about $70-72 each from places like Courtesy or Trophy Nissan (online).

I really couldn't tell you for sure if the were a lifetime warranty or not. I was too excited to try and replacing that one coil and see if my test work that I totally forgot about warranty, keeping the box ect.

I bought my maxima, a 2000, from a Nissan Dealership in August 2003 with 80,000 miles on them. All six coils had the grey dots on them so I imagine the previous owner got hosed by the dealership to replace all six because I have yet to see a 2000 the came from the factory with grey dots already. Anyway I got my p1320 code in Novemeber 2005 with about 108,000 miles on the car. Two of the coils went bad, the other four are firing away with no troubles at all. So at least 30,000 or so it took for mine to go bad.

All Nissan parts have a 1 Year warranty...

If you can get coils for cheaper with a lifetime warranty, sounds like a deal to me and I would just all over it.

If you have a known bad coil and that seems to be the only bad one... Then save the money for now and just replace that one. I would look and see if you can get it from o'reilly with a lifetime warranty.

bigfatty, were you aware of any ecm updates or anything? cuz I've had my ecm updated + grey dots for about 40,000 miles or so and It's been trouble free, hopefully it will continue to last.

How about this, 137k miles and still on stock coils. I might get a miss fire once a month or 2 but still on the stock coils. other than the miss fire the car runs great. Need to change plugs tho, they are still stock too!

Are you saying that warranty is from Nissan?! Because Nissan DOES NOT warranty them for life...

I would say that's a bargain, although I wouldn't be too concerned with coils going bad after the first replacments, although it DOES happen.

Bad coils puts you in limp mode? Or is that MAF???
