Warranty is almost over and Nissan wants me to bring the car to a dealer
Just a couple hundred more miles and my warranty will end. I received a letter twice saying that I should have the car checked before the warranty runs out. The letter was from Chicago not the Nissan dealer that I bought the car from.
My dad and I talked about it and agreed that I shouldn't go. My Max runs fine but we just have a feeling that they will screw something up on purpose during the checkup and then in the future I will have to bring it back to the dealer so they can charge me big money.
But I would like the see what my fellow .org members has to say about this. Should I go? Did anybody else get a similar letter?

Although some healthy distrust of dealers is probably a good thing, to suspect that they would criminally tamper with your vehicle is a little over the top! In any case, I think it is a good idea to bring it in, unless you feel that your car is completely without problem. The dealer gets money from nissan when performing warrantee work. No shirt off their back and certainly none for you. Questionable items like sticking doors, cracking belts, etc. may be replaced at the dealers discretion. I remember for me, I was 5k away from the end of my warrantee and was in for a tire rotation. My ebrake was a little loose--really had to yank on it to make it tight--mentioned this to the dealer and he examined and replaced the cable saying it was defective. Even quirks like rattles in the dash, rattling trunk, etc. can be fixed... Just bring it in when they aren't busy or to a dealer that doesn't get a lot of maintenance work.
