5 Speed Tranny Question...

ive only been driving 5 speed for 2 or 3 months now so everytime i feel something weird im lost. anyways, my question is about my first gear. During normal driving everything feels fine, no slippage wutsoever. ever gear feels ok. When i take 1st gear up over 5k rpms just for the heck of it, when i press the clutch to shift to second the shifter basically gets THROWN out of gear. Normally one would move it out of gear themselves but it gets done on its own somehow. Like i said under normal driving everything is fine, but when i get close to redline the shifter pops out of gear when i press the clutch. what could cause this?? this only happens in 1st btw. redline in any other gear would put me well over the speed limit and into the rear of another car anyways.

it pops out of first gear? i havent looked at this while in first gear, but in 3rd gear, when you accelerate, hold the shiftknob and you'll notice its moving a little towards 4th gear. If you redline first it must be worse. This happens when I'm not even red lining 3rd gear. Its hard to explain.

worn out splines on the 1st gear side of the 1/2 sleeve and/or worn out engagement teeth on the gear itself - which is weird because usually other gears have this problem, 2nd and 3rd most often, rather than 1st.

Could you undercut the gears? Ive done it on bikes a few times as its much cheaper than replacing them,is it the same on cars?

I don't know much about bike transmissions, I've only ever seen inside one (a 2001 R6). That bike has dog cut gears so undercutting would be effective. street cars don't have dog cut gears so it would not work - if someone could make it work I'd be very surprised and it'd be incredibly time consuming and probably affect driveability quite a bit.
