when i lock my car the security light blinks, but when i try to set off the alarm by pulling on the door handle nothing happens. if i hold the panic button it goes off so i know the actual alarm works. any help would be great.thanx

hey mine actually does same thing. I think the alarm will only go off if someone was able to get into your car without the alarm actually being turned off like with a key.

Your alarm still works though. One time I had my windows open and the doors were locked. Instead of using my keyless to open the doors i just unlocked it manually from the inside and the car alarm went off.

Maybe try doing that if you want to setting off your car alarm.

hope this answers your question

The alarm doesn't go off if you just try and lift the handle. It only goes off if the doors are unlocked without the key or remote. If someone smashes the window and the unlocks the door (the unlocking of the door sets it off) to get in.

why? It's a basic factory alarm. It wasnt until recently that factory alarms really started getting aftermarket type features (on most cars, that is).

the alarm will go off if you reach into the car and try to unlock it or try and pop the hood while the car is locked.
