My Maxima has been stored for 2 years...Maintenance?

As the title says my car has been stored for over two years. I love my max but due to personal issue I had to store my maxima. It ran 8 months ago with a new battery and new gas. I am sure it will start again. I just want to know what kind of maintenance I should do. My car is a '97 SE 5spd with around 115k. Last maintenace was a tranny rebuild and 100k tuneup at around 100k. Also oil change right before storage. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Tyler

Change all the fluids: power steering fluid, transaxle gear oil, brake fluid, radiator coolant, oil.

you dont need to go all out and spend $500 on fluid changes etc. and battery replacement may not be necessary. If your car was a rare classic then yes, but at this mileage just drive the car. Replace the battery when it is dead. Save your $$ for something else.

When you do start and run it... Check for any new leaks. Sitting around does a number on seals and gaskets.

You have no idea when the fluids were last changed, nor what your are talking about.

The car has been idle for two years. Change the fluids, especially the radiator coolant and brake fluid.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, ie. it retains moisture.

Routine replacement of the fluids is one of the most important preventative maintenance steps to take.

deffenatly do your brake fluid, you don't want to cheat out on safety EVER. power steering is not to important just make sure your wheel turns freely and easily. also check your tire pressure, i know its a no brainer but it wasnt mentioned and its easy to forget. oil change for sure. your oil it self wont break down but in that time the additives will and it wont lubercate as well as needed. might want to do a engine flush just to get rid of sludge and carbon build up. Just my 2 cents.

Was the car driven much during the two years. Mine sat for a year and the tires got flat spots on them.

You should also check out the condition of the belts and hoses.

Might have to get the AC checked out down the road. Usually when you don't use the AC, the lines or seals develop cracks or leaks.

I would get the car running and run the AC as soon as possible. It might still be OK.

That's something for down the road, not really a big concern this time of year, especially in Vermont.

Thank-you everyone for all the help. I can't wait to the maxima back out and running. I will do a 120k tune up with everything else you guys mentioned.
