Why no auxiliary input on our cars for Ipod

My 2004 Titan had one and I didn't need it. Now I have an Ipod and my 2006 Max doesn't have one (that I know about anyway).

For those using Ipods in your Maxima's...what are you using for a connection?

Cassette adapter for me, the FM transmitters just don't sound good enough.

I tried the cassett adapter, but didn't like the high hissing sound without dolby, or the elimination of the high notes with the dolby. The Itrips wasn't strong enough. I have a Sirius Sat Radio installed in the little compartment below the radio. It has an input that i connect the IPOD to. It also works with a FM Transmitter, but it has a much stronger signal than either the Itrip or even the $80.00 unit from Monster. I never have any static, and the sound is CD quality

Nissan makes an Ipod adapter but it's like 300 bucks. On the plus side it interfaces with the factory radio and steering wheel controls.

I would love to search but I do not have "sufficient privileges" (BS)

I have read the threads and I have found..........

1) Peripheral pxni
2) Neo Ion
3) Pac aai-nis2
4) Belkin autokit
5) USA Spec pa-11
6) OEM dealer part#999U7-VR001

VERY CONFUSED HERE!! Everyone who has one of these parts claims that theirs is the way to go.

Which one is better than the other and why??

I have an '06 SL with BOSE 6 disc changer. I do not have Sat. and I do not have Nav.

I would like to use my radio and steering wheel buttons to control the Ipod functions and I would LOVE to have the track/artist info show on the stereo screen (I read somewhere that this will not happen with the "Pac").

I would also like the sound quality(volume) to be as close to cd/radio quality as possible (I read that an amp or "line Driver" may be needed to achieve this??)

Could someone tell me exactly what I should get?

PLEASE HELP ME!!! I know this topic has been beaten to death, but after reading all the threads regarding this topic (best way to connect car stereo to Ipod).........I am more confused now than before.

The Pac aai-nis2 is a direct connection and puts out the best sound. Any FM modulator or tape adaptor WILL NOT sound that good. I've used both in the past and personally think they suck. As for the steering wheel controls, I may be wrong here but it might work. I added another PAC adaptor to make them work with my aftermarket HU.

Good luck!

The OEM model is the best for integration from what I have seen.

Do you mean the OEM head unit?? or the OEM Ipod cable interface thing??

Will that cable work on my 2006? Or just the 2007's??

And if it's true that they run $300?

Both, the OEM ipod interface for the 6th gen maxima is the best for using the controls of the vehicle. It works through the sat radio and you can use the track up/down and other access functions; plus it charges the ipod. I don't think it would work on an 07 just because it's a different radio but don't quote me on it. The interface plus the cabling is around 300 bucks last time I looked.

Hope that helps.

The PAC works pretty well. I'm trying to hook up a Unipod as well. It hooks into the PAC and provides a charge.

However, I can't figure out where the 12V constant and where the 12V switched power wires are. I've seen the 05 Diagram, and it doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Does Pac aai-nis2 work for the 06 SE with base radio? I do not have a sat button.

Thanks hpric, where exactly are they though. Is it on the wiring harness for the Bose system or somewhere else. I keep seeing people refer to the ignition harness, but I'm not totally sure where that is.

So the models previous to the 2007 don't have the AUX input?

I have the 2007 with the Bose system, and I have a AUX input built right into the head unit.

If you really want to change out your head unit, every head unit made now is able to be plugged into an iPod. Some of the head units out there are pretty cheap now too.

And for you guys wondering about the 2007 OEM iPod interface, it seems a lot better now. There is just a cord that the dealer installs in the glove box, you place the iPod in there, lock it, and it plays through the radio with the steering wheel controls. My dealer told me the cord only costs about $150-$190.
