if you hit the guides too hard trying to get the tranny on, it will make them flex (kind of expand in the middle). If you did this, you might have to find a way to smooth it or cut part off.

This happened to MrGone and I on my transmission and he took a dremel and cut a little bit off that was protruding.

Go over the guides very carefully and look them over. Also check for any parts you might have put on incorrectly.

the torque converters in we took the tranny out from under the car one time to make sure its like 22mm in (over the 18 its suppose to be) so its on there.. nothing is hitting it we can wiggle it all over the place (tranny) the dowel pin touches the hole its suppose to go in but we just cant get it in

if the gasket is leaking in the middle of the tranny then try tightening the bolts (when it's cold). if they still leak then see if you can live with it becase it'll require you to drop it again to replace the gasket..which i know you don't like to do.

your slack in the shifter may be because the grommet under the car is gone. Replace it before you do anything else.
