. . . it was the Pathfinder TB

If any remember I was having an idle problem with my car. 3.5 went in smoothly and everything appeared connected properly and everything. When starting the car and idling, the car would idle at 2k then fluctuate. 2k ->2.5k -> 2k -> 2.5k and so forth. Getting suggestions to check for a vacuum leak, I searched and searched but wasn’t able to find one. Looking at my Pathfinder throttle body I realized the bottom portion of the TB where air will circulate to the IACV and out the two outlets, were not plugged up at all. I used some JB weld and filled the square opening in the TB, and used more JB weld for remaining openings that would let air escape. Re-assembled and started the car and finally she idle around 650. Finally I can resume this vehicle as my daily driver. . .

Cliff note: Before installing a Pathfinder throttle body, make a block off plate or fill the opening with JB weld.

blah! hahaha. before tearing my engine apart, I finally put on StephenMax's PF TB adapter, and I had the same exact thing, idles right at 2 grand.

The two outlet holes of the IACV, I poured silicone into them and put a bolt of the same size as the hole into them, and covered them with jb weld... yea not enough, the valve itself still allows for air flow. Before I put the engine back together I'll have my block off plate installed already.

yes indeed Matty. I taped them off and filled it. Once I started my car and saw how it idle, even after it warmed up I knew I solved the problem.

Its funny (only now its funny) that what appears to be such a small thing was whopping my as* for so long. It was at a point I drove my car to work (had to that day), and you wont believe the amount a looks you’ll get driving your family car with the b-pipe not connected to the muffler, and revving up and down from 2k to 2.5k . . .

I'm making my plate tonight for my PF tb. I'm gonna seal it to the bottom of the tb but I'll have to fill those holes first. Good thing I checked this today. Just that hole in front of the butterfly?

Yes fill that hole. and look at the 2nd pic matty posted. look underneath that produding rectangle you'll see another air way for air to escape. Once you make your plate it will cover the whole bottom of the TB and thats it.

funny thing was I always read 00vi swaps with the pathy TB, or DEK swaps and have seen pics of people covering that plate up . . . it should have hit me sooner.

That tube for the coolant. I mention that on matty's thread about the same issue with silconing/JB welding the bottom of both the PF TB and 5th gen TB. Both of them have similar holes for the IACV. I'm glad that it fixed your problem. It isnt necessary for a IACV plate if you did what MDeezy did. The plates has the same affect as the blocking those holes.

Ok thanks. I might put a nipple on my block plate to run a coolant line. Everyone says there's no need but I'll see what I can come up with.

are you using the IACV? or do you have those lines properly routed? In my case I did not have the lines routed anywhere so it would become a leak for me.
