HELP! factory Anti-theft gone crazy...

I have a 96 auto
locked car with fob (after I washed it - fob did not get wet)

after some time I went back to my car tried to unlock with fob but didnt work
- unlocked car with key horn goes off headlights blink
- tried fob but didnt work tapped fob still will not work
- unlocked trunk with key (as stated in owners manual) to stop sound

car starts but windows and door locks wont work (at all)
when i shut off car and after some time open door
(with key - fob wont work) alarm goes off again

changed batteries on fob - no luck
disconnected battery - no luck
used known good fob, (tried to) programmed to my car - no luck
checked all fuses in car and in engine bay - no luck
reset ecu - no luck
followed procedures to program fob (to clear all codes) - no luck
(tried to) program known good fob - no luck

car still thinks alarm is on - when I open the door (with key) alarm goes off

leaving battery disconnected all night to see if that works......
if not I guess I will have to take car to dealership

PLEASE HELP !!!!

Sounds like unlocking the car doesnt disengage the alarm anymore. I'd say to look through the Haynes manual about the alarm system, but otherwise I can't help you.

The key should never set off the alarm... Here's what you do:
take your car to an aftermarket alarm place. Have them install an aftermarket system(be careful not to let them know whats wrong). If it works, great; if not blame it on them and make them fix it

this will sound crazy but....
everything worked not for long but it was normal
fob worked i noticed the door courtesy lights blinking
and some clicking sound as i used the pwr locks also the windows were jittery as they went down and came back up

the only thing i noticed different was the temp - it was the middle of the day under full sun

but not long after it all stopped by all i mean pwr windows and locks and fob
now temp is cooler again car wont respond to fob windows and locks wont work at all (other than using the key to unlock door)

but car starts and drives ok - this really is weird im starting to think that
i must have some type of elec short somewhere -

please advise.......

I am having a similar problem. I can't lock my 98 or the alarm will go nuts. Everytime I lock the car, the alarm goes off. Eventually the car wouldn't start at all. Took it to the local Nissan and they said that there was an aftermarket alarm on the car( I didn't know this) and that it somehow conflicted with the factory. So they took it out and left the factory. 2 weeks later the car does it again. I don't have the starting problem, but I can't lock the doors at all. Dealer told me to get a new fob, but it didn't work. So now I'm gonna go wire chasing to see if there is a short somewhere.

Sorry for hogging your theard. If anyone can help me out that would be great also.

aftermarket alarms work on locks. if you want to add windows you have to buy the extra module. and it is possible to disable the factory alarm but unless it isnt working like the OP i would integrate the 2 since aftermaret alarms dont offer much protection aside from the noise.

Double check all your fuses again (under the hood), and under the dash. Also check the keyless module in the trunk. If you're really stuck and you cant get it to work properly, then pull the "anti-theft" fuse out from under the hood....it'll stop the horn from goin off.
Part of the problem could also be the driver-side window switch. That little thing is tied into the security system for both the locks, and the auto-down feature when you hold the unlock button on the fob. I've seen that go bad before and nobody ever suspects it.

No its cool mikey - now that you mention it the dealer tried to tell me that about the aftermarket alarm but i wasnt having it told the CSR to let me talk to tech cuz the CSR didnt know what he was talking bout... and like you i can start and drive the car but she is still acting up....

thanks TLMNICK i will check my fuses again all of them I didnt know about the keyless module in the trunk im gonna check that out too thanks again

i have a spare master switch and already tried it but after i go thru things again and check the module in the trunk i will swap the master switvh to make sure.

after that Capital 15 recommended i have my electrical checked gonna have to chase my wires im begining to think its a elec short somewhere.

thanks for the help guys!

Ok, this is what I would try first. Arm the alarm (the security light should blink in 2 second interval). Use the key to open the passenger door to see if that will disarm it. If not then arm it again and try the trunk key. There are multiple points of disarming the alarm. The fob or any of the 3 keyholes. If all these don't work then I would guess that there is definately something wrong with either the BCM or the wiring.
