frozen rear caliper
about 2 months ago my left rear froze up,so i bought a rebuilt.today go to take off and same **** as before, wheel locked up.i work at a junk yard and i know these go bad all the time, but its only 2 months old.why would a new caliper go bad this quick?
wasnt rebuilt properly. Try rebuilding it yourself if you have some free time. The FSM's brake section shows you how to do it. Im assuming all the seals would be new on a rebuilt caliper, but it going bad in only 2 months I'd also assume that they used crappy quality brake grease. One is supposed to use high temp brake grease, or like I used on the sliding pins, hi-temp anti-seize. Slides perfectly, doesnt gunk up, easier to work with.
Good luck

search in the 4th gen forum for this, it is very common.
HOWEVER, make sure it's not your emergency brake cable(s) that is causing the rear brakes to lock up. Mine starting locking up and I thought I always got them to disengage, but in the process I wrecked my rear rotors. So the last time I messed with my rear brakes (ie change pads) I looked and sure enough, one of my emergency brake cables is split open and rusted. So when I put my brakes back together I just left the rusted emergency brake cable off (which might not be a great idea, but a temporary fix until I can change the cables).
