Good place to route Amp power cable thru Firewall
Good place to route Amp power cable thru Firewall
I'm having a difficult time deciding where to route the 0 gauge power line through my firewall. I noticed one wire bundle running through the firewall almost right in the center behind the engine... towards the passenger side of the car. Although when it comes out in the engine bay it has a 90 degree elbow immediately after breaking through the firewall. Where has everyone else run their power lines?
you cant in the 4th gen, its completley different.
rdbaron, if you want, its a pain the @ss, but go through the driver side fender.. its easiest if you jack the front wheel up to take the inside-cover off (the one above the wheel).. you can then pop the wire out right next to the battery.

like bigmike said
i ran myn right were bigmike said, i actualy did it today. im building a custom box and amp rack, when im done with it all ill post pictures up of most of the steps and final outcome. not sure how well the pics will come out used my camera phone in a not so well light garage. but i got my wire threw the hole without a problem. had to jack the car up, take the driver wheel off, then take the plastic wheel well guard off. then it pops right out behind the battery and looks nice and clean.
I ended up running them through the boot with the 90 degree turn... the wire doesn't go through the boot but through the hole where the boot was. I wasn't thinking though ahead though when i ran my RCA cables down the right side. If I had to do it again I'd run them down the left side so I could run the power wire down the right side. Now I have the power go from the battery to the passenger side, and then across to the drivers side and back. I was thinking about running it through the wheel well but I didn't want to chance bustin any of the plastic snap buttons since it was about 25 deg. outside when I did it.
I was looking for the same thing on my 1996 Maxima and found another post on this site with the easy answer. There is a rubber stopper just to the right of center pretty high up on the firewall. Pop out the stopper and you are through. Here is the orginal post:
