Cleaning the engine?
Cleaning the engine?
Sorry if this will appear as a n00b thread, I know there was a thread before about the whole process of cleaning our engines, but I can't find it anywhere? Anyone still have the link??
Last but not least, bear with me here, been doing some research and obviously steam cleaning is not the way to go. Instead I'll be going by way of Meguiar's Safe D-Greaser (or Simple Green, but I keep reading Simple Green can damage painted surfaces) and very lightly sprayed on hose water, all while keeping my electricals covered in plastic saran wrap. Anything else I should take note of? I also read a few times that it's a good idea to try and stay away from the manifold for fear of affecting the injectors? How I have no clue, lets see how long before I get bombed on this thread

We wash engines all day long at my detail shop. Just spray it down with an all purpose cleaner, scrub heavy soil and grease with a soft brush and rinse. Blow dry with compressed air or a leaf blower. Next dress everything with Trim Shine by Stoner and everything will shine line new.
i used to use stuff by Auto Magic called Red HOt.....spray it on the motor and powerwash the ****er off......never had an issue with starting or idling...except for a jeep wrangler but they are turds anyway....oh that was at a dealer too adn on my personal car...scroll to no.51 it works better than their engine degreaser

if u wanna clean the inside of the engine. i read next time u get an oil change or DIY just change out one qt of oil for transmission fluid. it will clean the inside slowly without doing dmg
Off topic: ATF isn't a good idea in your engine crankcase. Modern engine oil is more detergent than modern ATF, and ATF has friction modifiers that engine oil doesn't need. If you think a lower viscosity oil will clean your engine you can always put in 5w-20, but I'd just use the viscosity that Nissan recommends.
