Fuel Pump recommendation

I think - I need a new fuel pump. What do you guys recommend and where can I buy it. I have a 93 GXE vg engine SOHC. I read about guys installing a walbro ?? and also something from a firm called TREperformance etc. Any ideas from those who have replaced their pump. Also how easy is it. ( TO compare, I have replaced fuel injectors).

Unless you've got or are going to do some extensive upgrades like boosting, I think it's pointless to upgrade the pump. Maximum you may consider a bolt on rising rate fuel pressure riser. I have a good used fuel pump for your car. Worked when removed, I guarentee it to still do so. If interested, forward me your zip to calculate shipping. Make me an offer and it's yours.

To change, you'll need to unplug your fuel pump fuse and start run car till dies to remove pressure from line. You'll need to unplug "-" battery post. Pull bottom back seat, two bolts and the tabs at front. Then there are 4 bolts (I believe) holding down panel in center of car under the seat. Remove plug, remove panel. There is your pump. Remove fuel lines (I think hardest part!), making sure reconnect lines in same place. Remove bolts, pull pump out. Reverse order for install.

Perhaps I'm getting too far ahead here. Why do you think the fuel pump is going bad? You could get a decent fuel pressure checker from Harbor Freight.

Just spoke to a experienced mechanic and described the symptoms (see earlier post - weird engine misfire
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=506073). Problem goes away for a short time when I freshly fill the fuel tank. He says this is certainly the pump in the first stage of failure. I am not trying to upgrade the pump , but just get a reliable pump at eh cheapest. the oem and boschs run to $250 for the the 93 max SOHC. the TRE is advertised at $70, the walbro for $100. At this point I am not thinking of a used pump.

I have had to replace my fuel pump 3 times so far on my VE,and i can tell you from experience, misfire is NOT one of the symtoms, the car will just flat out die, then you will be able to restart it a few minutes/hours later, and eventually it just never restarts again..

Please don't assume people have read your other threads and have made the connection. Wasn't clear on "think I need a new pump." I figured you were just considering upgrades. I second Wyne's feedback. Again, if you're convinced it's fuel pump, go with Walbro. I still recommend you getting a fuel pressure tester for $10 at Harbor Frieght just to be sure. I'm not convinced based on your description.
