Brake issue.. rear caliper stuck?

i am at a red light, i let off the break and i hear a sound coming from the back. This sound happens 2-3seconds after i release the brake pedal. Sounds like im driving with the with the parking break on. anyone else have this issue?

jack it up. take off the wheel. and PBlaster down the whole thing. Go back into the car and pull up and release the Handbrake numerous times.

Brake groan is a common issue with 4th gens, there are TSB's out about them. I'll see if I can find a link.

--edit-- Here ya go: Rear, Front

Seized calipers are a common issue for us too. I replaced both of my rears at around 125k, and I have a feeling I'll be replacing the fronts soon too. I paid around $100 each for the rears.

I also replaced both rear calipers. Very very common and thats what your problem sounds like.

I replaced both rears for 250 with pads. I'm in the process of getting slotted brake rotors and EBC red stuff brake pads so I plan on changing out my fronts also. Haven't check the price on them yet though.

Can get two remanufactured loaded (w/ hardware and pads) calipers at Autozone for $130 plus the core.

your p-brake cable could be sticky. try lubing it as suggested. and use it every time you park your car -- keeps it from corroding.

also -- this is what the new rear pad retainers mentioned in the TSB look like. the actively push the pads away from the rotor, reducing groan/noise/etc. they work great.
