Passenger Side Axle ASAP

Doing the 5 speed swap right now and I can't get my passenger side axle of at all. Even after taking that little bracket thing off. And even if I get the axle out how do you go about taking off the bracket support?

no^^^^ dont have to take bracket off. Take the 3 bolts off the bracket that hold the axle in the bracket. then put a flat head inbtween the bracked and axle and hit it with a mallet to sepparate it. all this after axle is out of the hub after the big axle nut if off. take hub off the strut after axle nut is off.

it took me forever to get mine out, even after i took the bolts off. if you can separate it at that bracket, that would be the way to go.

i took the bracket off the car. I know that there's 3 bolts that hold the axle to the bracket, but it was soooo stuck i had ot take the bracket off or i would of killed myself trying. much easier later on to knock it out....

Thats what she said

For real though, i used alot of PB blaster, and then took a chisel to get it out, took forever, looking back i would cut a hole with a dremel and used that hole to pry it apart, when u put the new one in, slather it in anti seize, the seccond time i did it, it took maybe 5 minutes, so much better

I JUST did this last weekend...I could not get the axle to slide through the bracket. if you have the bracket loose the car should actually be able to come out with it attached. I actually removed the oil filter. you may not have to. pull the axle towards you until the top end of the bracket runs up against the chunk of the car that the control arm is bolted to. THe top half should be nestled up against that part of the car body as well as a pulley on the car. It looks like it won't fit right? pull downwards and to the right..HARD and it will slide right out..don't pull too far to the right because the back half of the axle is still in there. Feel free to brace a leg on the steel inside the car for some leverage. It will come out. then break out a could different sized screw drivers and go to work seperating the brace and axle. ONce i had em seperated i cleaned up the rust inside and painted it with some por-15...when reinstalling it can be a bit of a pain, but just do the bracket first and slide the axle in..be prepared for it to be hard to fit though...i banged the axle in far enough to be able to them just use the screws to bring the brace and axle together. Good luck!
