$7. buy it. use it. If it doesnt solve your problem, dirt is not your problem and its time for a replace.

dont listen to the people who say to just replace it. as you said above, youre not ever positive if thats the problem. try the MAF cleaner from autozone. it costs $5 and takes like 15 minutes if that. if that doesnt help and you really suspect the MAF is the problem then you can replace it. but still, ide at least try n test it before just replacing it, just to make sure that im not wasting a couple hundred.
i have a 5th gen,.. but i cleaned mine with the maf spray.. and it fixed it but the prob soon came backwithin a few weeks and i bought a new one and that fixed the prob.. so heads up that the cleaning spray might only be a temp solution...

alrite ,.. im just puttin my input on my experience going through with the 7 dollar spray and the 100 ish dollar part,,... in my experience with cars all sensors are usually sensitive to cleaning sprays so just be careful..but what could it hurt..
Ok! Anyone with great technical experience on 97 Maximas? Heres the problem Err P0105 Map/Baro. The car wouldnt pass smog cause of that engine light that wont stay off after reset. I was told my MAF was bad after some tests were run in diagnostics. I replaced it with a new MAF, had the err reset, then BLAM 1 hour later, the light goes back on again... What is the problem....Irritating! Cause I cant get my tags until the smog test passes with the light off and the part fixed. But what part is it! Whats the problem? I even had a Nissan Specialist test it and say it was the MAF. So, somethings being overlooked, I would very much like to get some help with this.....Anyone experience the same? Could it be a wiring issue or something?
My smog passes great, but the err light is denying my pass once its been detected......HELP!

clean it? blah, i've never seen anyone on here that cleaned their MAF and didnt have to replace it shortly afterwards. A clean may temporarily fix it at best but replacement will still be due soon. I wouldnt take the chance of V10 gas mileage and Civic performance to save on a maf that will most likely need replacing soon anyway....my opinion
The term "faulty" is something that can't be fix, I say replace, but if it's something that need to be clean, then you clean it with brake cleaner, the same stuff you clean your rotor to remove grease and other element, it's safe to use on MAF. I never had an issue with my MAF since my acquistion six years ago. After reading the posting about MAF issues, I did clean mine with brake cleaner just for preventative.
i would check it with a volt meter make sure its broke , check the wire leads an see if there loose replace if needed dont clean it the cleaners will work but not 4 ever just replace it. MAF work by measureing pressure and temp with a bimetallic strip in the housing and those u shouldnt *** with.
So if using a MAF Cleaner fixes the problem............then the problem was that the MAF was dirty right? So why wouldnt it work "forever"? Its not like the MAF cleaner is some sort of patch. If the Sensor is bad, cleaning it wont help. And if cleaning it helps, you have solved your problem.

I did the same thing that 2da mizzax recommended. You can find the MAF cleaner at your local Napa. "So easy even a caveman can do it."
