Door Lock Problem... HELP

Hey everybody,

I'm just looking for a little help here. I've searched and checked and looked and can't find a solution to this.

The other day my driver side door locked itself, and can't be unlocked via the remote, the key or the inside.

The day after, the driver side rear door locked itself and can't be unlocked from the inside, the key or the remote.

I would assume its the actuator and the door was stuck in the locked position, but the other door is doing the same thing.

Anybody have any ideas?

reply or email me directly.

THANKS!

A little update...

On a hunch i invited AAA over to try and get my driver door open. No luck. Is it possible that the actuator went and its jammed in the locked position?

If so... what do i do? Start ripping it apart from the inside? Getting the panel off from the inside with the door locked sounds impossible.

Any ideas?

that's pretty weird. are you sure you tried pulling the unlock button? lol
Perhaps try a locksmith. I'm sure he'll open the door in 30min or less.

Locksmith no, AAA yes. I'm off island ( I live in Hawaii) and my girl told the AAA guy to pull it from the driver side. He couldn't get it open pulling the cable through the window slit. Does this mean the actuator is locked in the locked position with power enough to not be pulled?

I'm hoping its something electrical I can solve without pulling the whole damn door apart....

So we know they lock. But I can't UNLOCK my door. Not by force. So I'm worried. When a crowbar can't open my door I got problems. I'm hoping its some corroded connector somewhere....

I have never taken a MAXIMA door apart, but isn't there a metal rod that goes from the back of the door lock button that is on top of the handle to the actual door lock mechanism? If this rod fell off, no actuator, keyfob or anything will have any affect on the lock because nothing is connected to the actual locking part of the door to unlock it...

If there is no rod like some other cars, then please disregard with no flameage, just trying to help the dude out. I know how frustrating lock problems can be.

Sounds interesting. I might be able to check out if the "rod" fell off the lock mechanism by taking apart the lock handle pieces from the inside. I'll see if I can take that apart from the inside without taking the door panel off.

If anybody has any other tips or ideas send them my way.

thanks

i have no idea how you're going to be able to take the door panel off your car without opening the door. maybe its not your locks and like the other orger said, just the rod is off or broken....

but sounds to me someone superglued your locks.....pissed neone off lately?? lol...

Hey Zis, I had the same problem a few months ago, it is the actuator. The only way I got my door open was using the key, and turning back and forth in the lock and trying the handle every second. It stood there for about 5 minutes before it opened, maybe I got lucky but give that a try!

Thanks for the tip man. So I just have to get lucky eh?

The weird thing is, when you turn the key it doesn't even feel like you're moving anything. You know? No resistance. I'll try that and let you guys know.

IF anybody else has had this and solved it, let me know.

Thanks,

probably the actuator, if it was that the rod SOMEHOW came off, you would still be able to use the physical lock by the handle, it may not do anything, but it would move.
also, does the door handle on the inside function, just doesnt open the door, I mean to say does it actually move or is it caak stiff?

I had the same problem on the Altima, and it was the broken door latch. Had to take the door appart from the inside, and break the latch open (it was a pain in the *** to get it done), helps if you have small hands!

Hey vvslavav,

Did you have to take the door apart from the inside? Did you break something from the outside of the door?

I'm going to try the key trick, but if the actuator is broken and stuck in the lock position, I guess I have to go from the inside to snap the actuator?

I wish I did have small hands. Too bad I'm 6'4''. I didn't come with small hands.

Anybody else? tips? ideas? This forum is the best. So many good ideas.
