hazard light question about disassemble.

So i took apart my hazard light and defroster to replace with LED since the bulb was burnt out. simple process write-ups are all over the place didn't think it was too hard and it wasn't hard at all. I did the hazard first. Now i hit a wall when i had to put it all together. Since there is a white tab in there that holds it in the on position. It took be about 5-6 tries untill i understood the whole assembly and reassembly of it. But during that time i guess i wiped off most of that goop.

Now when its all said and done. LED works but it doesn't stay on and off properly. i have to pull it out a little it works each time. I think its all in that metal mini rod and the white tab since it tab was the one i was fighting. I'm not sure if you guys ran into this issue or not but as this point my hazard requires about 5-7 pushes to say in the on position. I had some silicone spray lube that i applied and it seems to get better. But not that paste form. But i think ulitmately i bent the rod therefore no go anymore.

Now my question is mainly when you guys took it apart did you have run into the same issue as myself? I'm thinking the paste should work but haven't found a place with it or that the rod is the problem. This question is only for the people who have done it.

The defroster on the other hand was a breeze because there was no push lock in tab

I ran into a similar problem when I opened mine up to do the LED mod. It worked fine for awhile until the button won't stay in the on position. I found it it was the little white plastic piece being stuck a center position when it is suppost to be either leaning to the left side or the right side. I moved it over to a side and reassembled and it worked fine.

mine does move left and right as i saw it but it doesn't catch all the time. i played with that rod that goes into the white peice and moved it down more to make a better contact but after its all peiced together nothing still.
