mevi slowing my car down?
mevi slowing my car down?
Hey guys,I just recently joing the newfoundland tuners forum and i was asking anyone if they could help me with my mevi to install.Yea a guy is going to help me. he drives a 89 nissan skyline(o and that guy who said there was no fast cars here has no idea) and he said just a suggestion it may slow my car down, and it would be better to wait for a 5 spd swap before i but it on.Just anyone can give their opinions and facts on this.i payed alot for it and i dont want it to slow my car down.Iam doing a 5 spd swap but next summer.
You will lose a little low end torque, but you gain some up top. HP is slightly greater at peak. To utilize the MEVI to it full potential, you need a raised rev limit at the least, and ideally a JWT ECU (programed correctly for your mods of course), or better yet....the Emanage Ultimate. However, the EU is only for intermediate to experienced DIY'ers IMO, and installation is not plug and play.
Search, there are plenty of threads about this.

would getting jwt ecu, cattman headers/ypipe,pulley kit, cattman full catback exhaust regain all the low end power im losing.or would it be better to say screw the mevi and get all the other stuff and make it faster that way
The JWT ECU would/should regain your midrange plus the extended rev will compliment the full potential of the MEVI. Even w/ stock ECU you'll see benefits from the MEVI since the USIM chokes out around 5200RPM.
But getting all that air in and restricting the flow out isn't going to give you much gains. I'd start with exhaust 1st

they way im buying things are.Cattman headers/ypipe ,cattman catback, jwt ecu, udp, mevi.Guys on the nf tuners(local big car club) told me it may slow down my auto and its better to do 5spd swap first
We all know nissan doesn't call it that. But that's been the generally accepted term for 5+ years or so and it'll stay that way. Same with the Revup 350Z motor. That's not an official nissan name either but it's the easiest way to differentiate it from the 287 HP motor so it sticked.
BTW, it was also offered in parts of the world other than Japan.

I was just adding some additional background history of the "MEVI", and directly answering his question. Yes, it's old news. Sorry OP, back on topic.

So,basically if i wanna get more power from 1000 to 4500-5000rpms then stick with the stock manifold? Also im not saying i race or encourage street racing, but if i was to increase speed while passing another licenced and insured automoblie, would i be faster with the mevi or with stock? Lol
