anyone use Hella or Sylvania Ultras?

Interested in upgrading the headlight bulbs, they are just standard bulbs. anyone have any experience with Sylvania Ultras or the Hella headlight bulbs? or both? im wondering which one would be better, they're basically the same price. and of course im assuming 9007 bulb would be even better? thanks

yeah i got sylvania ultras, never heard of HELLA's but dont buy them, Sylvania is a quality manufacturer and i trust them.

the 4th gen are 9004 lights so im not sure why u talkin about 9007 unless u wanna convert. i have the 9004 ultras they are white, not blue, i like them, they are a lot brighter then stock bulbs, but some people argue that the white light sucks on snow and rain at night, i dont find this to be an issue tho i am ok with them.

from what i heard, Sylvania Xtravisions are best, but i don't know if that is still true or not. I say just save your money and get an HID kit

when i was shopping for lights i looked at xtravisions. they are one step up from oem, they are still yellowish but brighter, so if u are just looking to replace with brighter lights but keep the oem look then yeah i would suggest the xtravisions. u will save a lot of money as well

9007 xtravisions are what I had, they're a good step up from stock but still yellow (and won't blow out). If you really REALLY want blue lights though I'd suggest saving up for a retrofit... blue halogens are going to be dimmer than xtravisions and significantly more.

well, yeh, i would convert to 9007. but i dont think xtravisions should be brighter than silverstars or ultras. am i wrong?
i would love to have HIDS but cant find an excuse to justify the cost when quite frankly i CAN see fine out of my stockers, but going a few steps higher while keeping the stock harness wouldnt hurt. so thats not really in my plans

so far i've used blue tint 9004, 9004 silverstars and 9007 silverstars. next set of bulbs are in the trunk 9007 xtravisions. so far 9007 silverstars are the best i've tried, but they do suck in rain, well anything on the ground that can deflect the light.

my 9007 silverstar conversion < my g/f lancer 9007 OEM bulbs. in terms of angle, beam overall light on the ground. Mines just looks cleaner. compared head to head and ground/wall beams as well. our maxima's OEM headlights stink. OEM retro is the only way to get around it.

ok here are some pics of my Sylvania Ultras, took these on the day i got em and the car was dirty, they are kind of missleading but the light on the road looks bright white and not blue. very good lights in my opinion

PS i did have silverstars for like 2 days and i refunded them and got these ultras, the silverstars were also white but not as bright as the ultras. so if u go the this way go all the way and get ultras.

I agree with guys that you should convert to 9007 or should just get HIDs. They are the best besides projectors. Get some 5k HIDs and you'll be happy. Nice white and good output. Otherwise do 9007 conversion. I would say Nighthawks or xtravisions. Both are highly recommended for light output. 9007 Nighthawks are my next bulb until HIDs.

I have silverstars and I'm not that impressed. They look good at first but I can tell now, a few months later (probably 6), that they are dying. All the silverstars and ultras are a waste of $$ IMO now. Just give a nice white color. Output really isnt that great.

alright thanks, i would still like to hear from someone who has tried the Hella bulbs though, hopefully someone will chime in about those. they are on par with the ultras price-wise so maybe they are similar, or better...

My 9007 silverstars cant even be photographed lol. I tried everything possible but they are that bright that every picture I took would be a blur of light.

Those Ultras don't look that bad

Thanx,

i think that when people say they look like $hit in snow or rain at night are not used to them. i had them for most of the winter and in the beginning i did kinda find them weird looking in those situations but then i got used to them

The fact remains that blue light + diminished output (silverstars) means appalling performance in the rain.

No I've had silverstars in my cars since I turned 16 and they have always sucked in the bad weather. Driving in snow is horrible. I could never see anything. Rain is the same thing, looks like my lights are barely on. But in nice weather...damn my 9007's light up almost 1/2 mile.

those pictures might be bright and white but comparing the beam on the ground is a whole new world. If you just wanted looks by all means get ebay "HID JDM" wanna be bulbs for $10 or less.

I never saw a hella on the ground but seeing as how they make a LOT of off roading aux lights i wouldn't mind getting a set but obviously no for the prices. The silverstars i got off ebay$20 a pair and the xtravisions have $10 local. the bulb tinted bulbs were eurolites online for 20$

the super silverstars are like 50$ a pair aleast if not more. I cant justify that much. the normal silverstars have problems last over 6 months. not sure if that is the case with the ultra's if i was going to spend $50 on ultra's i would aleast consider an HID kit 5-6k i think 210$ is the cheapest in the group buy.

I agree. Def high and lows with them.

I like the side pic of your car. Mine looks just like it. Washed twice and still looks like it went off-roading. Gotta love northern winters.

Get some OEM cefiros and a 4300K HID kit and you're good to go?

But please don't put HIDs in your stock housings...

what's wrong with hids in stock housings? Plenty of guys have them on here. I would never consider cefiros either.

you should see how much washer fluid i go thru in a month its unbelievable, when in traffic u have to keep spraying that stuff every 5 seconds. it becomes so annoying.

u know i appreciate the government keeping the roads safe with salt, but that stuff just stays on your windshield untill u grind it off with some washer fluid.

Glare up the ass and horrible beam pattern. OEM Cefiros (some of the chrome ones, not blacked out) have a beam pattern that's much more suitable for HIDs. However at that point ($200+ for cefiros + $230 for HIDs) you might as well get projectors.

If you can do an 00vi, you can probably handle projectors. It's really not that hard.

Yeah I'm just worried about the actual cutting into the headlights and all. I might be getting some r34s for cheap and might do a dual projector in those later on.

Ive had Sylvania Cool Blue and Silverstars. They silverstars are incredible in nice weather, but as soon as the ground is wet, you cant see anything at all. After a little bit of driving you actual start to feel fatigued. The cool blue are about the same thing...there isnt much difference in brightness. I wanted to try out the new silverstar ultras, but I figured they would be the same thing as the original. Anybody have any comparison on them?

i had the cool blue before i got the xtravisions. cool blue were garbage compared to the xtravisions i got now. and if youre saying cool blue and silverstars are the same as the cool blue, then ide have to assume silverstars are garbage too. which means i say you get some xtravisions!

If you have to deal with bad weather a lot, Xtravision bulbs are the way to go.

I just bought the Ultras tonight... they look good. A step up from reg. silverstars. They're advertised as lasting 30% longer than reg. silverstars, and 20% brighter. They're bright, I'll give them that... not HID bright, but brighter than any other bulb I've owned.
