Are bad rotors a maxima chronic problem?

My friend bought a new 07 Max and after 1 week had to have the dealer turn the rotors, consumer reports "black flags the max brakes, a friend at a party had maxima disc problems and mine were just turned by the dealer and still shake- is this a common max problem? Is there an aftermarket solution?

I would say no! Rad rotors are not common on Maxima's. Driving style has everything to do with how long your rotors last.

Two things to say:
1) Buy new rotors. Get Brembo blank rotors.
2) Use a torque wrench ($30) to keep your wheel lugs at exactly 80ft-lb. I've heard it theorized (and I believe in this) that when shops overtorque the lugnuts they put excessive stress in the rotor. When you get the brakes hot, the combination of excessive prestress and thermal stresses cause the rotor to warp. I have yet to have my car at a shop that consistently tightens the lugnuts as they should be.
