what would you pay for this car.

it is a 95 5spd pearl white, grey cloth inside, abs. and only 26,000 miles! original owner car. the reason i am asking is because a fella i met today has this car and his wife is asking him to sell it. but what do you think he should ask for it? and belive me when i say this car is MINT!! it still has the new car smell from the dealership!! airmattdog (maxima of the month) can vouch for this car, ill try and get the owner to send me some pics so i can post them.

but what do you think is a good asking price. i say no less than $14,000.

It would be nice to get 14K but it would never happen. edmunds.com has the car valued at just under $4000 even with only 26K miles.

+1, any decent mint car will fetch a premium, but maximas aren't exactly collectors items. $7-8k sounds about right.

tell you the truth..i wouldn't buy the car in the first place.....To me a 12 year old car is worthless with only 28k on it...

1) either it doesn't have the original miles on it and has been turned back. Thats only 2k a year. Impossible to me...i would say "HAH" and go on to the next.

2) even though it DOES have 28k with NOTHING rolled back, it means it was NOT driven enough. A car that has been sitting for a very long time without being driven causes problems in the engine and tranny because of the fluids and rust. So i would pass on that too.

Thats just my Personal opinion....but i would say no more than $5-$6k.

Depends on the person that owns it tho.. I have an aunt that has a 2000 Hyundai Sonata its 7 years old and has 23K so like 3.3k a year. She has the oil changed every Three Months not by the milage. She has also had the transmission flushed and the timing belt changed (Stealership swindled her on the belt IMO). I looked down the oil cap and the engine looks brand new. So if the car was babied I would take it in a heart beat.

With good Maintenance records and if carfax checked out O.K. I would at the most pay $6,500. But with the right (buyer) the seller could at the most get $8,000 - $10,000. ImmaSquashYou has a good point. Cars that sit for a long time tend to need a lot of fixing. Fluids can be no good, calipers can freeze, rusted parts, etc.

agreed, just because the mileage is very very low... anyone who knows will be able to negotiate to that amount I say $6000 is the lowest he should go

It seems a little sketchy, however if it checks out as being the correct mileage and has maintanence records then I'd shoot for 6-7k.

My dad had an 8 year old car with 50K miles and because he didn't drive the car enough (let it sit for weeks in the garage w/o driving) he had to replace the entire fuel system, costing almost $3K in parts/labor. I wouldn't get it if I were you tho

i hear ya, as far as the owner hes in his 50's he has a 911 as well and he bought this car when the maximas first came out. i think his porduction date is 3/95. i would think mabey 10k at least. but some of you guys bring up some good points. he has one of the original stillen fstb and a stillen cone intake. way back when stillen was all you could get.

I Bought my max from a dealership, with 93 thousand miles on it for $6,000 (they was asking for 8) and whoever had it took really good care of it inside and out, but i do agree a 95 with only 26k? is that on the engine or on the car as a whole? betta get everything checked throughly before buying it... but that would give you hella braggin rights...

i just say the other day a '93 300z goin for 9g's cause it only had 20 something thousand miles on it...

I saw the car in person too. It was flawless. All original miles, nothing shady about it.
I think we put more value on maximas because we are in to them. This may hold true for all car guys, whatever the make/model car. If you're in to the car, you'll feel there is a lot of value there. Does that make sense??
I don't know what he could sell it for, but if he sold it to a maxima enthusiast, he may get more money than if he sold it to the general public.

it all depends on how the car was driven & maintained. if they guy did 4k OCIs with dino, then the engine is likely sludged. if he drove it mostly short trips it will be even worse, and may have CC deposits too. probably still has the original coolant, which should've been flushed 7 years ago. brake fluid is likely full of water, so the calipers are corroded inside, etc, etc, etc.

He does not really want to sell it, he was just throwing it out there. This maxima is perfect! He knows that it would be hard to recoupe what he SHOULD get.

Everything that was aviliable back then he has. I am sure he will drive it more before he would consider selling.

Then I get first dibs!

Agreed. Personally, I would say that the car has not been driven enough, so I wouldn't pay much for it, but as far as value is concerned and what others will give for it - yeah, 7-8k.
