Spring Tune Up....what do you think?

Ok, heres the basics. I bought my 99 SE cali spec in January with 107K miles. Today it has 109,350 miles. I have not done anything to the car since I have bought it other than replace the shift ****. The oil was new when I bought the car and the sticker on the windshield said 110,400. Here is what I am considering doing...

Knock Sensor
Spark Plugs
02 Sensors
PCV Valve
Clean TB
Coolant Flush
Power Steering Fluid
Brake Fluid
Oil Change/Filter
Tranny Flush/Gear Oil?
Fuel Filter

I did have a KS code the last time the CEL tripped, and I can get one for a decent price so I think ill get that done. I hope to get a new y-pipe and replace the cat (b pipe and muffler are new) and I figured why not change the 02 sensors while I am at it. (I think there are 4 on 99 calis).

My car did not come with any service records so I have no idea what has been done in the past. So tell me what you think and dont think I should do. Thanks.

You have it pretty much all covered.

Don't forget an air filter too, and check the condition of the brakes.

I forgot to mention the car came with a new paper filter so no need to replace it. A coupon also came in the mail today for a free brake inspection at a local shop, so i will bring it down there sometime soon as well.

well...the only thing i will hesitate on is the 02 sensors..unless you can get those at a good price also..otherwise thats around $250 alone...and the spark plugs..make sure you use the laser cut NGK...they're not cheap...around $9-$12 each..

u got it all, thats almost the same list of thins i have done to my car after i got it

PCV
Auto tranny flush/fill
Engine oil/filter
Spark plugs
Air filter (paper)
Fuel filter

next the car could use a front break pad replacement, and then a coolant flush before the summer heat starts

i washed my radiator today the bottom of it was covered in grease and road grime from the salty winter, its nice and shiny now. i also washed the car underneath from all the salt thats used in toronto. Im sure boston is the same that would be a good idea for u too...

PS: always rotate tires evey 12Kml and chec kthe breaks. Another trick i learned with the maxima is to flit the air filter the opposite way, since the oem snorkle for the air intake is at 180 degrees to the TB, the air comes in on the same side of the intake as it is coming out, this its obvious to see on a dirty air filter, so i plif it to put the clean side on the other side where more air travels, this prolongues the life of the filter, which is usually about 10Kml (do this at a 5K interval)

NGK Iridiums or Platinums? I know iridum is a stronger metal, but isnt platinum cheaper and recommended in the manual?

Plugs should last 60k easily, unless they are the copper ones that only last 30k. I felt no difference after changing my plugs at all, however I replaced with double platinums.

Platinums are factory replacements, I believe. I dont really see the need for iridiums, but I hear they are better. Before you change plugs, id pull one from the front since they are so ez to get to and check its condition. I bought new plugs, started taking out the old ones, and the old ones didnt even look that bad at all, but I changed them anyways. Fuel filter I would also change just because its so ez and cheap. Id get a K&N drop in at the least so you dont have to keep buying new filters every 12k miles like your supposed to with the paper filters.

So going NGK Platinum is the way to go...iridium if you want to go all out.

Two quesitons:

1. Is is really necessary to replace the 4 O2 sensors, or should I wait for the CEL light to tell me they are bad? (only because they aren't cheap) However, If I get a new y-pipe and I am right there, would it be worth it to throw new ones in?

2. You need to remove the intake filter box, and piping in order to clean the throttle body, so is that a good time to change the fuel filter?

Clean the IACV while your in there doin the TB. Also reset your ECU when all your done with the work. Definetly do the Fuel Filter too. With the IACV off, its a clear shot in.

Use Mobil ATF for the power steering resevoir.
