Well, when it comes to cleanliness, every winter I have a habbit of letting my car go. I just this weekend decided to give it a nice clean up. Here are the before pics:

I think things came out real well. However, as we all know, good things just can't last. Feeling good about cleaning out the interior of the car, I went to the store to pick up some stuff. I came out about an hour later and drove home. When I got out of the car, I noticed:










Really sucks. It really pissed me off, but I'm trying to just take it easy now. I'll probably take the car down to get an estimate this week, and start saving.

 

wow man, that really sucks, those are bad people who can't even own up to hitting your car in a parking lot.

Get some OEM floor mats and ditch the steering wheel cover. Good luck with the dent

 

I've been looking for the floor mats. You know where I can get some? Three dealers in my area said they can't get em anymore, only the rubber mats which I hate. So I bought cheap ones until I can find something better.

The steering wheel cover is there because the steering wheel on my 99 max was worn down to threads, I used a cover on it to hide the nasty looking wheel and got used to a fat steering wheel. Also, it keeps the leather from my steering wheel from getting worn.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. You work so incredibly hard and at the end of the day, it takes one moron, one reckless, self-centered individual to ruin it for you.

There was a company that sold fitted mats on ebay that weren't too bad. I think the price was about $30. I think you can get them stitched with a name for a little more.

 

Get some floor mats from either Dave B. or www.courtesyparts.com

 

I tried courtesy nissan, they just have the rubber mats for the 5th gen Max, which I'm not much a fan of, I'll try giving DaveB a call tomorrow and I'll scope ebay for some carpet ones.

I would definitely go with OEM. They look the best IMO. And although the all-weather ones dont LOOK that good (though better than anything else you can get on the market - they do say 'maxima' on them! ) they are good for winter. I'm just about to put my carpet ones back in for summer. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much

I agree, I looked around on ebay, but all the OEM ones sold there are asking 100+ dollars, courtesy nissan is cheaper. At least you're not in New England, it's raining all week here.

That sucks A$$!!!! I had a FAT A$$ B!^CH get out next to my car once at the school and door ding it when I was sitting in it not once but twice. So I got out told her to give me her insurance info and see told me no. So after I got done telling her how fat she was that she couldn't fit out of her door she went inside. When she came out the cop was sitting there with me and he made her give me her info. Then the cop told her he could give her a hit and run ticket for leaving the scean with out resolving it. In the end I won and she had to pay for it, wish yours could of been the same way.

I know I was mean but that was four years ago, I would handle it differently now. I thought it would be a fun story to tell.

 

I don't know, doubt it was a stray grocery cart though, so I'm assuming someone parked next to me turned their wheel too much too early while backing out and hit the door with their front end. Then, not wanting to have to pay for it, they just took off. That's my assumption, like I said, I just noticed while walking back to my condo.

I have issues with people fleeing the scene. I don't get it, if they have insurance, what's the big deal? This kind of thing is exactly why we carry insurance! If I tap someone, I wouldn't run. Why should they have to pay for my 'oops'? This is why I pay for insurance, is to cover my 'oops'. I just don't get the hit and run thing, unless of course they are uninsured.

Did you get a quote yet? I'm curious what this will cost.

I hear you completely. Only thing I can think of is a teenager in his/her parent's car that doesn't want them to find out that they got into a fender bender, so they get scared and take off. When I was 16, I had an 87 Ford truck that I accidentally backed into someone's car with. I'd be lying if I said my 16 year old mind didn't consider the idea of fleeing, but I waited for the person to get to their car. The damage on it was hardly noticeable, and there were so many other dents and scratches on this guy's car that he didn't really care, fortunate for me.

However, I'm planning on taking the car in for an estimate tomorrow. I'll let you guys know what it runs. Man I hope they can just pop it...

 

You can probably fix that door for 0 $$$, just removed the door panel inside the car and push the panel from inside out, I've fixed many car like this and on most of them you dont event notice after the free fix.

 

Had some extra time tonight, went to the autobody shop, got the estimate, I'm pissed all over again.

Total Estimate: $1,608.25

 

PDR. Seriously. Get a quote.

 

Just buy a new door from a parts car with your paint color. Check the junk yards in CT, there are two good ones in New Britain. Probably get a door for like 200 bucks.

 

+1. There is NO use in spending that much money on something that is isolated to just one panel (that is replaceable). Think about it - even if PDR can't get it back to perfect because of the scratches (don't know if there even are any), you pay the $100 to get the dent out, then another $2-300 for paint.

OR, as mentioned, just get a door and swap it on. Either way the damage is <$500.
