vias info

So I keep trien to gather all the info needed for the famouse 00vi swap but it seems like some info you just can't find anyware. The Vias attached to the side of the upper manifold has two wire harness on the bottom. One is black, and one is red. What wire are you suppose to plug into those harnesses and where would they becoming from?

From this extremely and horrifically vague post, my guess is the black wire.

This way you provide GND when desired RPM is reached, therefore completing the circuit, in affect, activating the VIAS.

Again, I'm shooting in the dark here, but with what little info I have, that would be my best guess.

Directly underneath the vias there is two wire harnesses side by side. One is red and one is black correct? What do you plug into those two wire harnesses. I'm asking this because there is no vias on the 4th gen so there should be no wires on the 4th gen wire harness to satisfy the black and red plugs on the bottom of the vias. Where would I get what plugs into the bottom of the vias? And were would I run the two wires that plug into the vias to?

You need to use a window switch to activate the vias at a certain rpm, they can be had for pretty cheap HERE

Okay, so does anybody know what plugs into the black and red wire harness on the bottom of the vias? Is it plugs that need to be cut off a 5th gen harness? or is the [U]only[U]thing you wire the vias an rpm switch?

exactly, those wires are where you would hook up the rpm switch.

you're just attaching a ground and power source to the two wires/plugs on the VIAS. That's about the easiest part of the swap.

I think you've all missed what he was saying because it sounds to me as though he's color blind. When he says "black and red wire harnesses" it sounds to me as though he's referring to the two different harnesses that plug into a Cali-spec VIAS, which are differentiated by BLACK and BROWN plugs (black = VIAS activation, brown = swirl valves).

To the OP, in this case...you want to follow the instructions given by the other posters in reference to the BLACK plug, not the brown one.

No. You can ignore the brown switch, period. Unless you're for SOME reason keeping swirl valves.

You wire up the black switch. Instructions for that are on my site.

on the vias, there are two solenoids, wire the left one. With the two wires, the left one is the vias changeover signal and the right wire is the power attached to a 12v source(directly to the battery) Use a V-afc2 to get a tune and the integrated rpm switch (don't bother it is V-TEC stuff, it has worked for 2 years over the board now and my solution also.) Hope it answers your questions!!

Aright im a little bit lost here. For specifics (can't find info on it anywhere) when wiring the rpm switch and the ground to the black plug on the vias, are you just connecting the wires to the two metal prongs in the plug? What prong is power and which is ground?

From a quick FSM search the power goes to the driver side terminal, ground goes to the passenger side terminal.

Yea my bad. The terminal layout i saw is for the connector that's supposed to plug into there, not the solenoid valve itself.
