RPMS hang up then drop...5spd
RPMS hang up then drop...5spd
Hi guys,
I have this ongoing issue where (especially in cold temps), my rpms don't drop all the way down to idle when I roll to a stop.
Here's scenario 1:
I coast to a stop, clutch in, my rpms may drop from 2k to about 1k at the normal rate but then stays there for a couple of seconds and drops to idle when I come to a complete halt.
Scenario 2:
Rpms drop as above, but it may go down to around 800rpm, briefly rise to just under 1K, then drop to idle.
What's consistent is that it will drop to idle, which is quite smooth, when the car comes to a halt. It's very irritating, because I don't get that engine braking all the way down, feels as if I'm driving an auto and having to use the brake.
What's done so far:
- Took off TPS and verified it's not sticking. I used a digimeter to test it while on the car as per FSM, looks ok
- changed plugs (using Iridium IX) & fuel filter (Z32), cleaned K&N drop-in filter,TB & MAF. Even ran some Redline SI 1 Fuel system cleaner in the tank.
- IACV valve may need cleaning ( was last cleaned 2yrs ago)
- No codes ( checked last week)
- Car has a leak at the muffler flange
- Can't detect any vacuum leaks though the intake plenum gasket (front)needs to be replaced.
- Lots of kilometres 490,000km about 270K miles
Any ideas?
