My custom semi-cold air intake.

- Relcated battery, it wasnt to hard with the help of a friend. Used a drill grinder/dremel and made 2 brakcets to hold the tray and one for the Fuse Box.

-Made it from old intake pipes I had laying around. Still need to buy matching couplings, I had these laying around so just through them on.

- Sprayed with undercarige coating to resist heat. (have to redo cause I didnt have enought time to let the thing dry)

- Cut the braket mount on my MAf and also removed the screen before the MAF.

- Bought a huge K&N filter.

- Im also thinking of making some kind of heat shield.

- The car feels better, Safc air flow goes to 75% now ,also when I pop the hood after a long drive the filter area is much cooler behind the battery.

interesting.....do you have any plans to cut a hole in the fender below the filter to get even more cold air to the filter?

When the heck are you going to do the ever so should be popular MAF mod?

My MAF % went up a couple %'s when I removed the screen. But it went down 20% w/ my Ferarri MAF housing

Excellent job on the battery relocation. Personally think that is a great idea. Wouldn't take much to shield off the rest of the area and create a enclosure for the filter and pipe in some fresh ait from beneath.

What were the readings prior to the mod?

Readings before was about 72, but that also with my auto zone intimidator cone

After I removed the battery I thought about cuttin a hole to make a true CAI, but then thought about water and etc, and didnt wanna go throguht the trouble.

Your MAF housing is too small, as well as all associated tubing.

Good stuff my dude! Im actually gonna do this as soon as this stupid Connecticut weather breaks. As for the shield, i have a battery housing (where the battery sits in) from a ford E-150 thats big enough to fit around that K&N..Im gonna drummel out the lil plastic squares inside the battery housing and bolt it down...As far as cutting out a hole in the fender well...Water might be an issue...but it might be safe you never know...Anway, great idea. Dont mind me usin it

CAI hole

I am afraid to cut a hole in the wheel well since living in Buffalo is about as salty as winters get.

Not sure why he's keeping his stock MAF housing. He has a SAFCII so he could safely use the Land Rover housing unit, and instantly realize better throttle response as well as a few other added bonus items.

Looks like an A34 Injen unit. Done for cheaper though.

not to be a hater or anything but that filter is only 3' in diamater which is choking your engine 3.5 inch to the MAF housing and a 3.5 or 4inch diamter filter would flow at least 100CFM or more without any loss in performance, youll gain more with a slightly bigger intake 4cyl cars need 3in 6cyl cars need 3.5 inch v8's need 4 inch or better

setup looks nice, not too sure about the pipe coating but if it keeps the air cooler then good news. cutting a hole in the fender might be mighty beneficial to you...

2 1.5 inch wide steel brackets going across.

Had to cut one bracket that was on the side, other than that I drilled the stock battey holder and just got it to fit.

If you good with a drill and a dremel tool or somthing like it, youll be ok.

I didnt have to thread any new holes or anything.

I can't see anything. The pics are too small.

What did you use to cut the hole?

I used a drill bit to make a scuare hole by drilling many time to make a hole bigenough for a sawzall. then i had to use an air cut of tool for some finall triming. Also i got all my tubing and filter from autozone it was like 70$ including the filter

Same here. I saw this thread and decided that I was going to do it too. I moved the pan over the existing holes. Drilled the hole in the pan to line it up and secured it in place. I moved the fuse box right next to the other fuse box and screwed it in place in the existing hole there too.

Now all I've got to do is see if HD will take the bar that I bought back???
