Installed Stillen y-pipe; Has bees-in-can noise

I installed my Stillen y-pipe just recently and it makes the bees-in-the-can noise.

The higher the RPMs, the louder it gets although the noise is not as loud but just bothers me when im driving down one-ways with cars on both sides or on the highway in closed single lanes.

Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks.

Replace your flex section.

How am I able to replace my flex section? It's all in one piece.

If i remember correctly there is a piece of metal that is removable near the front end of the car. near the transmission area. remove it or bend it over.

stillen is notorious for bees-in-can noise...why did you even bother buying one?

Hmm... I guess I can have the local shop weld on another flex section, probably not by Stillen if I do decide to change it.

Mad Dhan:
I didn't have the front piece because I have a 99.

supazn:
There were people that installed and didn't encounter this problem so I figured that I would get a Stillen y-pipe since it was from an ex-Maxima owner in the neighborhood.

Thanks for the replies. Any other suggestions?

Thanks again.

Try wrapping the pipe...I have heard that has helped elimanate some of the noise from the y-pipe.

I hear wrapping is bad, because it can cause rust...

i have the same issue...but it doesnt realy bother me...i have a stillen pipe as well...

Arent stillen pipes "equal length" compared to the other cheaper alternatives? i know its not exactly equal but its kinda close...compared to most other y pipes that just dump the rear manifold piping into the y-pipe...
