Tinted Taillights Anyone??
Hi everyone. I drive a Passat. But I am also a fan of the Maxima. I would have bought the Maxima over the Passat but I had a bad experience at my Nissan dealer and wetn elsewhere. But I still love this car. And thats why I am here. I tint taillights. Basically looking to see if anyone here has any interest in getting it done on their car. I haven't done any Maxima's yet but if you want to see what I am talking about, I have tinted my cars tails and several others as well. Everyone loves them. Not one complaint. I think it will look great on a Maxima.
These are the stock lights off a Passat
These are how they look after I tint them, notice how shiny, glossy and even it looks.
This is how they look with the lights on, there is only a slight slight decrese in light output.
If anyone is interested, please post here.
Thanks
Jon

I'm gonna do a search on this topic, i mean it shouldnt be that hard right?
I had a question though, how long does the tint last? is it "weather proof?"

Jon, I lived in Staten Island for 15 years then moved to jersey, I am only about 25-35 min away and am constantlly there. I have a black SE and think it would look hot if I tinted the red part of the tail light. How much? How do ya do it? Will the red lights shine through? Where in S.I. are you?
Joe
Thanks

The price for 2 piece lights is $75.
I can do certain parts of the lights if you want. I will do my best.
I live on the South Shore by the Outerbridge Crossing.
Tinting the taillights will NOT affect the color of the light shining through. Red brakes lights will still blink red. And the amount of tint on the lights is totally up to you. My pics have a fairly dark tint on them. If that is too dark I can make your lighter. Like I said, its up to you.
"How long does it last??" I have had my lights tinted for over two months now and they like the day I sprayed them. I am not exagerating. I looked at them last night when I got home and they look perfect to me. And I am perfectionist. Will they last forever, who knows. I can't say they will last for a minimum time. But they seem to be waterproof. My car is left outside in the rain and the water just beads off it no problems. No runs no fading no nothing.
In the even the tint should deteriorate over time, the tint can be redone and the lights will nto be ruined. The tint can be removed at any time by using some chemicals and elbow grease.

First of all Testors is junk compated to the stuff I use. The stuff I use is more money but its not as simple as spraying and you're done. There is alot of prep work and I have a few tricks up my sleeve that helps give it that shiny glossy finish. Thats why I charge what I charge.

Picture of Tinted tails
TheKnight has already done the tinted tails. I already bought a can of spray tint (japanese stuff $21) made especially for tails. Gonna do it as soon as my friend translates the words to good ol English. It should last a long time if u do it right and take care of it.

Why is that considered too much money?? I wanted to get my tails tinted by a place in CA and they wanted $150. Everyone is still sending them their lights and they have a long turn around time. That was why since I figured out how to do it, I thought I would pass it along to other car enthusiasts. I figured charging that is fair considering it takes me 5-6 hours to do. Just my 2 cents.
