Dealer wants $1200 for A/C Compressor + Left Side Control Arm/Brushings

I was at Quirk Nissan today for my courtesy 100 point check up.

The service tech told me my ac compressor was leaking a little and it shouldnt be a huge worry. He said I will most likely have to replace it later into the year. Cost - 600 estimated.

He also told me one of my control arm bushings were cracking and it needs to be replaced. Cost - 600 estimated. (I dont know if thats the cost to replaced the whole control arm. he only mentioned bushings)

God d*mn, that seem like a lot. Do you guys have any other advice for this?

I just spent 180 on two sway links for the maxima too....

hmm... looks like they want u to bend over for the control arms...

even the sway bar ends links.. they cost about $40 each.. n are very easy to do it yourself.

Regarding the control arms... they cost about $155 each. They are a labor intensive piece to install so if you can get a weekend with a set of friends who can help you pop those bolts on the sub frame you can do it in about 5-8 hours yourself.

I just got a new set of control arms and put them in last week

The dealer will quote 188 but ask him if he can price match.. tell him you can get them online for 156 from autopartswarehouse with free shipping. Also, daveb quoted 150 for the OEM ones so i'm sure your dealership maybe willing if he wants your business. If you do control arms you may also want to get the bushing pins that go into the control arm and bolt onto the subframe. They can be a b***h to get off if they they are stuck... i have a thread for my LCA update you can read...

good luck.. the estimate is definately on the higher side.
