Yes, there have been 3.5 swaps into auto equipped transmissions. The transmission is the same (gear ratio wise) save for the small difference in the F/D.

The transmission in 3.5L equipped cars uses CAN communication, so electronic/software bugs might come into play. Why not use your stock unit? Is it on its way out?

 

im looking into swaping a 3.5 into my 97 auto---do i use my auot or do i need to use 3.5 auto

 

You can use yours. I'd recommend a tranny cooler and the normal stuff.

 

if i swap i'm using mine but putting a VB in there I think. Maybe a new TC after as well. Try to keep that tranny as strong as possible.

 

Yep, one of my friend did it. He start it a month ago, and its almost COMPLETLY done.
