$2.89 - $2.99 depends on which station I go. Not complaining much. Better than other places.

Nice, that was the reply they were looking for. Kind of like those "If you don't like what I have to say, don't read the thread". The title gave it away before you even came in here.....!!!!

I'm aggrivated greatly. Diesel fuel has been just as high, actually higher in many places, yet it takes less to refine it......Go figure. No major disaster, nothing to justify it, and yet it goes up......

I go through 2 tanks a week just driving to work and school (and that's getting 26-27mpg). It sucks that it's expensive but I deal with it; still gotta drive. I can always take the gf's Toyota Paseo and get 40mpg on 87 if it gets really bad.

Just be grateful you're not forced to pay Bay Area prices... geesh its crazy here. I'm happy to find $3.39 for premium in the Davis/Sac area, but I'm forced to pay $3.60 in SF.

OT: I love your R34s

I'm fine with it, because imagine buying gas overseas. It's around $6.00/gallon over there...I paid $52 to fill up the other day, but what other option do I have? I can't take the bus where I live and I have to get to work/school.

ok then.......you could've done the same my friend. You knew by the title what the topic would've been about. I don't get why you come in and try to change the topic instead of just not reading/replying. Then try to correct me for saying something to you. The measure with which you expect me to measure you by, you aren't doing yourself,...meaning, you aren't ignoring and moving on. Instead you are trying to convince me to ignore your post. The very thing you should have done with the entire topic if you were that irritated by the griping.

Glad I don't live in the Sac, CA area. However, I do feel the nationwide pinch because of my family and their profession.

I've been waiting for a thread complaining about gas to pop up.

What took so long?

You should thank those who drive too much vehicle (i.e. SUV's, uber trucks) than what their needs are. Also, thank that same group that drives them like a car and goes 80-90mph down the freeway.

I can't find premium here in Tampa below $3.20/gal.

I guess it adds that I prefer to use Shell versus other brands, and they are always more expensive.

-sigh-

We must love our cars.

some people must relize that now finding a job it must include the price of gas in the reasoning.

if you can make slightly less and drive 14 miles round trip to work instead of 100 and including wear and tear.

sometimes less pay can be more

i use about 4-7 gallons of gas a week and this is using my gas guzzling sentra when i start using my maxima for comute. ill prob use 1-2 gallons less

the only way i notice gas prices is on long trips and people complaining

ha ha that's funny you mention diesel, my dad's an electrician so he drives a cummins, he was actually spending so much in fuel it was cheaper to buy another car that gets better mpg.

and actually diesel takes more refining now then it used to and soon will take more work to make then regular gasoline. you can thank the tree huggers for that. sorry to sidetrack.

Sure it's supply and demand, but it's a constitutional demand from an oligopoly. It's not simple free market economics. If you think getting raped by the gas companies now is bad, I just read in the paper that several large conglomerate utilities are getting into the game too. I already know the heating oil, natural gas, and water rates doubled 2 years ago. Now it's just a matter of time before electricity goes up.

Diesel was, up until recently, much cheaper to refine. It is on the increase because of the EPA Wackos. Again, it isn't as much to refine as fuel, albeit, it is on the rise.
The prices of diesel were on the rise before it was required to meet stricter EPA regs....

If you can't figure out how this relates to Maximas, you might want to reread this thread.....I guess being nasty amidst a general conversation is now expected? A lively debate/conversation includes opinions from all sides of the fence. Not every post is only Maxima specific. This is a general discussion topic and this affects Maxima owners in more ways, than just their beloved cars. Thus: General Maxima Discussion.

Just spent $49 this week on gas, I fill up Premium at BP. It's the most I've paid I think, within 2 years. But I'm just glad that I have a job to afford the gas prices.

I am thinking about getting a motorcycle for this year though. Mainly because I've always wanted one. The whole gas saving thing is an advantage too haha.

I can't believe it's come to this. I heard a couple people say the same thing. There used to be a time when people worked to put food on the table. Now more and more, I hear people working to put gas in their car. My gf's neighbor is a substitute teacher. Gas takes so much out of her paycheck that she barely has enough left for rent.

My very first post...

After driving a Pathfinder for 2yrs, I was totally sick and tired of paying through the nose to keep gas in that truck.

I just traded it for an '02 I35, or a dressed up Maxima I guess you call it. I know the Max isn't great on gas, but it should kill the Pathfinder, I hope.

Back in the drivers seat baby... picking it up tomorrow, black on black w/sport package.

Just thought I'd introduce myself...

Joe.

There is nothing you can do about gas prices, but pay them. And here's why. There are enough people in this country and around the world who have the attitude "pay or don't drive, simple". There are too many of these people bending over for the gas companies, so now we have to as well.

Here is how it works:

The oil and gas trade is the only business in the world that can price on speculation of something happening. The simple FEAR of a storm, or a disruption in supply, is enough for gas companies to raise prices by up to 10%. If nothing ends up happening, they laugh all the way to the bank, and reduce prices back... but not completely. Your reduced price will stall fall 2-3% more than it was before the speculation drive, without the industry incurring ANY additional costs. Hello profit! It's this idea that will be used to drive the gas prices up to $4.00+ per gallon this summer. Once you're paying $4.07, $4.12, $4.09 per gallon of gas, then Exxon/Mobile will NEVER have to drop the price below $3.00 again, no matter WHAT. The people will be HAPPY to pay $3.39 a gallon at that point. Is gas worth that much more? No. But the company needs the money desperately to pay out those $400 million retirement packages to the execs.

If you aren't convinced... check out this chart...

http://www.connecticutgasprices.com/...ice_chart.aspx

It shows the oil and gas price trends over a range of time periods. You can see over the past three months, the oil industry peaked at $65.50 per barrel with a low of 58 dollars per barrel, a difference of 12.9%. Gas, peaked at $3.14 per gallon and with a low of $2.32 per gallon. Even IF oil was on the increase, it would have increased 12.9%. But it wasn't. Gas was though... it increased 37%. More than three times the oil. With absolutely NO indication as to why. Except those 400 million dollar payouts. Check it out, over the last 6 days, the price of crude dived. It fell, gas on the other hand... it keeps on trucking up! Why? Because people pay it, and Lee Raymond absolutely just MUST HAVE a fourth golf course put in his back yard. And his $2 million umbrella stand is starting to look tacky, time for a new one!

The truth is inelastic resources are supposed to be mandated by the government to protect against economic abuse, however, these companies have pumped enough millions of dollars into federal and state lobbying as well as senate and house "campaign contributions" that they have law-makers protecting their interests... not yours. Corporate America owns this country, not you.

So all you can do is what Nmex says... penny up to your master or get out of the game. I rant like crazy... but in the end, that's what I'm gonna do. Maybe I'll try to vote based on economic views and public welfare instead of abortion and stem-cell research in the next election too.
