i was thinking about installing a q45 tb on my car, because there is one at a junkyard near by. i was also going to do the 3" maf.i searched and read that you cant install one on a usim or mevi, because it would be too large to match the im. is that the same case with the 3.5 im?

 

Q45 TB = 90mm.

PF/FWDVQ35 TB = 70mm

Port will be too small. Not sure about bolt pattern.

I'd be VERY surprised if there was any power to be gained on a 3.5 with bolt-ons and stock cams.

 

If I were going to upgrade the TB size, I would use this thing, and convert it to DBW.

I've got two of those Q45 TBs for a future project. Yes, the bore is 90mm and No, the bolt pattern is much wider than Pathy 70mm TB.

They are BIG, but of no use unless you are moving a lot of air into your motor. If you're NA, a Q45 is pointless.

Granted, they have a nice throttle cable attachement, but.........
