Help quick!! Brake info needed

Hey guys thanks for lookin at my thread. I just finished replacing my front rotors and pads (unfortunately I had to take my brake line out and lost about 2 tablespoons of fluid.) Now when I press on the brakes, I have no resistance. Only when the car is off and I pump the pedal is when I get the pressure.

Again I'm sorry this might not be in the right forum, but I need some quick help and you 6th genners always come through quickly....thanks in advance

Maybe bleed the brakes? Sounds like air in the lines.

Thanks Swee,
My dad and I ran out of daylight so the project continues tomorrow. We only did the front brakes so tomorrow we'll do the rears then bleed the system. I'll read up on it tonight so I know what supplies we'll need.

You're very welcome Law,
I'm guessing there. That's just what my hunch says.

Good luck with your project, and as usual, keep us updated.

Hey Law, just wondering, which rotors and pads did you get and how much were these?
Also, how many miles on your Maxima?
BTW, hoping the best for your project, 6th generation rocks

Update for those interested...
I finished the rear pads and rotors today but was unsuccessful in bleeding the air out of the system. I can have a shop take care of it tomorrow morning to get the brakes working properly for about $50.

As for the name/brand of rotors I cant remember off the top of my head. I purchased them from an auto parts store here for about $310 for everything.
I'll post more information tomorrow!

I may have been wrong Law, I just equated your play in the pedal to air in the lines. I was hoping someone else would pipe in and confirm what I had thought.

Let me/us know how things go today.

it is air in the lines. when he removed the lines, air just sucked right into there and when he pushes on the pedal it's the air that makes his pedal feel "squishy"

I'm interested in replacing my rotors with drilled or slotted rotors. Was it a big job worth taking on?

Thanks for all those who have posted! Its done!
I took some photos too, but I doubt many of you will find new rotors exciting. I called around to a few shops to see who could bleed the brakes and I ended up paying about $45 to have it done. Since it was my first brake job, I feel much better having someone look over the job as well.

I made the mistake of taking the brake line off and opening the bleeder valve, but I'm glad I did. I now understand how they work. Overall the work was not difficult at all which took about 2 hours. As you can see, I just have blank rotors, Duralast is the name. Duralast Pro pads as well. I purchased them at Advanced Auto Parts, $265 for everything.

Thanks again everyone!!
