any one have the rewired fogs along with h3 hids?problems.

im running the helios h3 kit along with the rewired fogs and i was wondering if i have enough power to the ballast. just installed these today. i have my fog rewired to come on with out the headlights, what is happening is both bulbs will fire and after 5 min the passenger side keeps goin out. checked all connections all seemed well, turned the fogs on and after 5 min the passenger side goes out again, tried swapping the ballast and IGNITERS and same results ie,passenger side goes out. anyone have this problem? im going to try running battery power to the ballast via a relay and have the power from the fog switch trigger the relay and see what happens. at least this way i can eliminate there being a power problem. any thoughts on this anyone?

Install a relay and upgraded harness. Make your own, it's extremely simple. I made one for my fogs and I don't even have HIDs in them. Just grab yourself a relay and wire it directly to the battery. Don't forget a good ground, as well. That's just as important as a good 12v source. Using the stock sized wiring is choking the ballasts, so anything larger would be good. I would use at least 14 gauge wiring for the 12v source and ground, 12 might even be good.

Or a loose ground or something. Either way, build a new harness, your ballasts will thank you for it.

Half and half. I made the harness back before I knew how to solder, but just a couple days ago I had to solder some connections that had come loose over the last year since I made it. I suggest soldering everything for durability.

The only connection I had not soldered that came apart was where I tried to twist two wires together (the 12v source coming from the relay going to each fog light) and have them both going into a single butt connector. Even then it took a whole year for it to work its way loose. I would still solder everything possible, though.

i picked up some female and male snake on connectors. i will use these for the stock harness and connecting to the relay, in case i ever had to switch back to stock lighting for inspection purposes or something it wouldnt be so hard to do so.. everything else i will solder, whats cool about making your own harness is that i can be in the comfort of my house while i prep everything. you did the projector mod right?

Yup, I'm running H3 projectors. Since I had to fubar my housings and couldn't use the stock connectors anyway, I took the original harnesses off the back of the stock fog light housings and wired my upgraded harness using them. That way they plug into the factory wiring harness just like stock.

oh! i cant believe you got projectors in there. did you have to cut up the housing at all? as for your headlights did you go with tl or tsx? what did you use for a shroud?

The only cutting I did on the housing was up front, to get the lense off. 99% of people's experiences with attempting to bake the fog light lense off were unsuccessful, so I simply cut it off and JB welded it back on.

I have DOT E46 bixenons in my headlights, and shroud is custom. I didn't actually do my headlight retrofit (didn't trust myself at the time, but I did do the fog lights), so I couldn't tell you what they used to make the shroud. I have Integra lenses on their way for my headlights, though (10x clearer and they don't have a line on them like my current ones do), and am doing a restoration on my headlight lenses along with removing the angel eyes I had put in during the retro about a year and a half ago (too tacky for me now).

you have more guts than i do ,im happy with just the hids in the fogs..but whatever floats your boat . i went with the tl bixenon and im waiting for my r34 to get here. i know its going to take lots of time and patience, still not sure how im going to secure the projector the headlamp or what to use for a shroud. i have a 3 to 4 pvs reducer im going to see how this works out.
