question about taking tint off back window, then retinting

my car came with tint, and the rear window looks like crap..lots of bubbles everywhere... i want to strip the tint (i know ill have to basically strip it off all of the windows to have the retinting all look the same).. my question is this: if i strip the rear window and then retint it, will my rear defroster not work? someone told me this would be the case, and for this reason i should break my rear window, get a new one through insurance, and then do the whole retint-the-whole-car thing.. sounds kinda crazy... any help? and also, can someone recommend a good, reasonably-priced tint place around boston, ma? thanks

just get a shop to take it off , easiest way. I don't see how breaking the window is a good idea since technically that's insurance fraud

since its not gona be considered a traffic accident it will come off ur deductable, which is usually not a lot, and its not good to do this cause upon renewal ur rate may go up.

i think its impossible to take off the old tint without scratching a single electrode line on the defroster so if u really MUST have the good lookin tint, replace the rear window all together.

Insurance fraud is bad, don't listen to someone.

Get a tint remover kit at a auto store, Do it yourself and then you will feel satisfied that you did it yourself and you know it will be done right.

Dont break your window or take it to a tint shop they charge and arm & a leg to remove tint!! Its easy i did it myself just go to this website all u need to know is right there!!!

http://www.tintdude.com/remove.html

I did it to my car and the rear tint just came right off w/ no problems...just make sure its a hot day and spray alot of ammonia.... after the tint is off get some fine steel wool and clean off any excess glue that was left behind...very easy trust me!!!

to reduce the smell of ammonia try "tint-off".
it's pretty much the same as ammonia but w/o the smell.

also try to avoid using steel wool. a white scrubbie pad should be fine for the glue. steel wool leaves these small steel particles behind and they may cause rusting if they are left on the glass somewhere.

Tint off is garbage. Use 409 and a black plastic trash bag.

Pick a hot day, spray your back winshield down and lay the black trash bag over you back window ( inside ) as if you were going to tint it with that. After about 30 minutes or so start peeling. It should peel freely but if it doesn't then use the above method.

wasn't sure if 409 was too strong for the interior or not.

When I had my car re-tinted, they charged $50 dollars to remove the old tint from all 5 windows. They used a steamer. Came right off.
