How hot does it get where you live? Did you notice the engine acting sluggish? Any slow starts?

It gets EXTREMELY hot here in the Arizona desert and I currently use a 15W-40 year round without any problems. I plan on switching to a 20W-50 once I get a few more miles.

5W30 is for places that will snow or is below 20 celusisu.

20W50 seems like diesel oil to me. If you are able to find 20W50 oil that is made for gaseoline engine, then you can use it. There is no point of using 20W50 if it is not synthetic, which greatly protects the engine at high temperature.
