I was suppose to do the dyno , I have a personal set , I have a 2001 that Is retired, another VQ35 swap for A32 for a buddy of mines ,

The cams was suppose to be drop into my A34 2006 Maxima last month. I was going to do the install and dyno it BUT Ive been having tranny issues with my car. All the mods are on hold because im having a issue with Nissan dealership with them to fix the problem.

I cant afford to add more mods to make the car go faster when the tranny seems like its slipping. I was told the A34 trannys can cost up to 9grand. Therefore Ive been holding out on doing the install.

Top Speed has a customer with a 350z using these cams and insured me that they are just like the nismo specs.

also i'v never once seen a dyno where cams have gone in a 5th gen that made me ever want to spend the $ and time installing them. for the price there are many other mods you can do to add more HP imo. $550 is a great price but thats $600 for them to be shipped to me. if i payed for an installed i'm close to a grand...for what 7hp top end gain with a good possibility of low end loss(i know you say there isn't but i find it hard to believe...)

No one is pulling your leg to buy these. Again this is my price that im getting it for , not the price Top Speed is selling.

As for the Tranny our 6th gen tranny are garbage , they arent trying to replace my tranny so therefore im having a issue with Nisssn and Im not going fourth into any mods as far as Turbo-Cams-spacer until my slipping tranny issue is fixed.

Therefore I cant say how much the Cams make as of now but Top Speed does have them install in their cars.

 

Ok lets get off the subject of a 6th gen , if you dont own a 6th gen lets keep that off topic.. 9 grand was the stupid serivces techs that take the car in..
If you KNOW anything about 6th gen , You cant order a 5spd AT tranny from any dealership cause there isnt any lying around.

This isnt A33 where you can find them in a junk yard and tweak them.my car is not under warrenty anymore And im not going to kill a my car.

I wish I could supply with them , As a few memebers know my 5AT on my 6th Gen is slipping , I was going to do the install and dyno it along with the Spacers Aaron came up with. But I cant move forward until the tranny issue is resolved.

Its funny that sounds abuot like the gains that the 350Z got and there stock cams are supposed to give our 5th gens more than that. That's one of the big differences in our engines and the 350Z's is the camshafts so whatever dyno you saw was messed up and def not on a 5.5gen

and the 350's intake mani and exhaust manis are different...and the timing and the A/F ratios afaik....

 

Cams on all VQ35DEs are the same, doesn't matter if its a Maxima, Quest, Altima , 350Z or G35. As long as its not a RevUP motor.... its the same ****.

If cams added so much power.... don't you think I would have them by now ?

uhh what i'v been saying since my 1st post. aftermarket cams do so little for our motor it's worthless afaik. i ask for a dyno from ANY motor with these cams and got NOTHING. if i did a turbo or SC and wanted serious HP i would have custom grinds made. NA afaik it's worthless. A mod deleted my last post in this thread when i said they are worthless and asked for dynos for the 3rd time. thanks mods. no disrespect but seriously, i know it's bad to bash on someone's for sale thread but no one had a problem bashing on the stone racing headers for the 4th gen before i prototyped them...and guess what they didn't do sheat. also in future when you delete one of my posts an email/pm explaining why it was removed would be the polite thing to do.

the fastest maximas of all generations afaik run on stock cams unless i'm mistaken...

i could spend 5k on cams and it would be a waste. if i spent 1k on cams it would be a waste. imo spending any money on cams for our car is a waste. IMO droping thousands on a FWD 4door sedan in an atempt to make it fast is impractical. but thats me. i do understand why others do it.

i also don't like to see fellow orgers waste money on untested none HP producing cammies.

I really don't understand the thread dumpage going on here. Especially Torgus... if you don't want them, then don't get them, quit flooding up the database with useless posts (I know, I'm doing the same thing). You can keep your opinions to yourself or express them to others if you really feel the need to, but for the sake of civility, keep it out of the OPs own thread. I just find it really immature and illogical that you even bothered spending so much time to argue how aftermarket cams don't do much for our cars while claiming making a sedan fast is impractical. If that's truly your opinion, why are you even on the forum? Get a life bro, you did the same freaking thing in Aron's thread for his IM spacers. If you really need so much evidence to justify a puchase, why don't you just test them yourself? This would remove any doubt that you might have w/ fudged dyno's and false claims. I swear it's people like you that drive away so many manufacturers from even considering producing products for our cars. You're a prime example of why most retailers scoff at Maxima owners and label us as "cheap and whiney."

1st of all i'v dynotested prototype parts for the maximas before. i know how the process goes and i know how to bring a product to market. maybe that doesn't make sense to you...

maybe your not familiar with real world sales...people want PROOF before they buy something regardless of the product. I work in sales and marketing if i tried to put a product on the market with 0 evidence it did a thing i would get laughed at by the consumers, retailers, and by my boss.

we have plenty of aftermarket support...you don't know what your talking about. seriously. we have a bajillion mods for our engine because it's basically the same as the 350. 2 diff headers, 4 diff SS catbacks, 7 different springs, 5 different struts, 3 different coilovers, 5 diff air intakes, all the strut bars sway bars and suspension components you could ever want, lots of interior mods, 6 diff body kits...what is lacking...what else do you want? it's got a HELL of alot more then most 4 door sedans in terms of aftermarket support. i think we even beat out the TL guys in terms of availible products and i only use them as they are the closest compairson to a maxima and they cost more and are slower...

i work next to a speed shop. i can use their dyno at a VERY cheap price. i offered to dyno test aaron's spacers and be the second ginnie pig and do it in any way he wants. I have VERY accurate temp sensors and i would be surprised if the speed shop didn't have their own. if he would give me the spacers at cost i'd do it. i'v gotten no reply. i assume sales are good enough that he doesn't need me. however it's odd no one else has posted there dynos or thoughts on them afaik.

if you want to send me the cams i'll gladly install them and post the results up. i could have them in by wendsday assuming i got them on tuesday. with results up for the .org

If i was selling headers you would want a dyno before buying...

and as to making a sedan fast: obviously you can make the maxima quick. but not fast and not cheaply. but it's the wrong platform if you want low 1/4 times or if you want to do AutoX. now i know people autoX their maximas but thats not my point. its the wrong platform from day one ask anyone who is seriously into it. if you want to go fast start with the right type of car. lightweight, rwd/awd. not a 4 door fwd car. you can make anything fast it's harder to make a max fast. i love these cars an the VQ and just because i don't want to be like speed racer doesn't mean there is no reason for me to be on these forums. not everybody is about speed. infact i bet 80-90% of the members don't have headers which would mean 80-90% of us really arn't into speed huh? i guess we should all close our accounts. i don't race my car on the streets. 1/4 times are for bragging rights and utterly useless. thats why the japs laugh at us. all we care about is going fast in a straight line. take the car to a road course if you want to earn respect.

Show me a dyno from Brian Catts of his new gen 3 headers... I could say the same thing for plenty of other parts. If you want to be all show and no go, then why are you even giving these sellers such a hard time? I'm done with this thread.

 

1st of all it's an established product. with proven gains from a REPUTABLE company who has done TONS for the maxima community.

2nd of all i'm sure there will be PLENTY of dynos done once they are released. afaik they are not yet. so you don't know if he will proto them on a car and release the dyno results. so i see what you brought up as a moot point because they are not for sale and you don't know if a dyno will be released when they are available for sale.

3rd of all i dont care if i'm all show and no go i can post wherever i want and whenever i want on the org. if i see a person selling a product that claims gains with no proof i'll call it out each and every time. i would assume you would do the same if you suspected the said product would give little to no gains.

4th of all i'm done with this thread too. i'v made my point and had to defend it more then is needed. post in the all motor section if you want to hear more opinions about these cams in a VQ35. Which i HIGHLY reccomend doing before purchasing.

and whats this about us not having enough aftermarket support??? could you give me an example please? i'm sure you had something in mind when you posted that, and used me as an example of why there are not enough aftermarket parts/support for our cars cuz i'm cheap. then again there is more money invested in my car then yours so who really is the cheap one...? by me buying aftermarket parts i'm helping the community more then someone who doesn't...wouldn't you agree?

I have seen them go for as cheap as $420 shipped.

 

Gen 3's are out. I know plenty of people local to me with them. In fact, I know one guy only gained 4whp over a y-pipe with it. Brian Catts does not plan on ever dynoing them either, which should concern you since his last design was not very good. And I'm cheap because I don't buy Konig wheels and ugly body kits, right? I don't help the community since I don't completely rice out my car and have the nerve to even say it's "show," correct? I think spending my money wisely on worthwhile parts makes me smart, not cheap. BTW, I never said cams were worthwhile, I just said your post dumpage was completely unnecessary. I hope I see your car the next time I'm in MA so I can throw up on it.
