Deceleration Clicking/Clunking Noise

Hi guys,

I'm hearing a clicking/clunking sound only under deceleration that is eminating from the driver's wheel. When hitting the accelerator, the sound disappears and is still apparent in very low speed, light braking. There is no sound during turns/turning the wheel however.

I'm inclined to think the wheel bearing is coming to an end. My dad took the car to the mechanic and the mechanic says its due to the car being too stiff/low, as well as my shock is leaking (shock boot is torn, but that would not indicate shock failure).

Car is running KYB AGX's and Sprint springs, with the front AGX's set to 4 (stiffest).

ok it's your CV joint which is your drivers side axle because it's coming from the drivers side. your blown shock might have a little to do with it, but it's your axle.

That's right, have someone check your axle boots & add grease if needed if you can't afford to replace it right away. $400 at Nissan for one axle...$250 at Express Oil Change I think...

yes they do, but I wouldn't doubt engine mounts either. And considering you're lowered get under there and see if there is play in either of the joints, simple enough to check. Also, make sure all of your lugs are tight ASAP! that shop sounds like a bunch of dueschbags. Get raxles if it is blown

To check your axle, remove the hub nut (requires a 36 mm socket) , the two strut bolts, and then pull the hub off of the axle. You may want to un-clip your brake line to give slack. Once you have pulled the hub off, hold up the axle and move the spindle around. If there is any binding, replace the axle (I just got one from AutoZone last week for $70). If you feel binding, drain the tranny before pulling out the axle. If there is no binding, re-assemble.
