Hey guys, I know this is mostly a modding forum and whoever has a ski or bike rack is like officially de-mitted from the maxima.org forums but perchance does anyone have a rack for their maxima with pictures I am looking into buying one since I have no where to store my bike and I really hate the racks that go over the trunk, thanks guys...

I saw a nice Yakima rack on Jason R's 4th gen using the Q Towers. I'm thinking of getting one myself. I want to make sure that it won't damage/scratch my Maxima first.

If I go biking, the Pathfinder has space to carry two bikes, and my partner in Anarchy on Dirt. I did see one accident where the bikes hanging off the trunk were clipped by a car making a tight pass, and well there goes a $1000 Specialized Bike.
Drive safely, and watch those overpasses.
One guy didn't.

oh exactly I'm worried about my $700.00 bike getting clipped, as for the car, well like the rack I have pulls the top part of the trunk which I don't like too much, hard to explain, plus I always use alot of padding between bumper and pedals...

i had a set of saris racks with ski and bike attachments. with the faring on it actually looked really nice. just gotta watch it when you pull into a garage.
as for damage, the saris clips left no marks whatsoever after spending an entire winter on top of my max.

I got a pair of Barrecrafters that go on top of the roof. I just use them for my skis but I know they got a multipurpose one for bikes, skis, surfboards and whatever. I got it from my local ski stop. I actually think my car looks pretty cool with the skis and rack on top of it. Sorry I don't think I have a picture of it with the rack.

roof rack

I have Yakima Qs on my 5th gen. They fit really well, no scratches. I don't leave it on for a long time though. After a long time, like say a long time from more than one month, it will trap dirt like the sunroof wind deflector. But anyways, it's very secure, I carry skis bikes ($2000 bikes) and I'm not worried. so I would say Yakima is the way to go, but it's just a little pricey, but then it's basically custom fit. They have different clips for every car. So does Thule. But I'm biased to Yakima. I used to sell them. And I hat rear carriers.

Yah the hole kit is like 300-500 depending on waht parts you get, so I'm debating whether to get my Bel 980 replaced or get a Yakima rack...

I have a Thule rack with two bike attachments. Works great and have never had a problem. Locks and everything.

Yakima with Q Towers works great

I have them on my 2K1. Easy to install. Used them previously on my 97 Countour SE for 4 years. They are on 12 months out of the year, as I ride in all seasons. No scratches or problems when I removed them from the Contour to sell the car. I highly recommend them! Good luck.

Re: Yakima with Q Towers works great

Sorry....One other thing. I'd make sure the roof is VERY clean and has a good coat of wax on it before installing the racks.
