How long injector cleaners are effective

I put Chev-techron fuel injector cleaner just before oil change, car gave 25mpg from the tank. Next Tank I got 23mpg, & since than I am getting 20mpg. (All city driving, same route)

And this behavior is very consistent, the tank which got FI cleaner (Chevron, Lucas, STP) get very good MPG, but with in 2 tank fills Mpg comes down.

My question are why does the tank which get FI cleaner gives such high mpg? and why does mpg comes back so soon. can I do anything to keep it consistently up?
I use 89octane Gas.

i think the manufacturer of most fuel cleaners say to use it every oil change. as far as your decrease, i dont know what to say. i used gumout on mine, the 3 step one, and it works great for me and i havent had any problems.

i use fuel injector cleaners every oil change because i got a few bottles sitting around that i got for free anyways

the STP ones i have say every oil change, the WYNNS fuel sys. treatment said something like 6000 KM, and the SLICK50 fuel sys treatment says 8000 KM, but i doubt they last this long, its just to prevent u from damaging the system if u do it too often, cause they put some kinda dog **** in there anyways.

Tire pressure, air filter and fuel filters effect mpg too.

i've heard that nissan uses self cleaning injectors and using injector cleaners can deform the injector nozzles...i haven't researched this actually myself so feel free if you wish.

Not to mention the rise in air temperature since summer is here.

OTC cleaners are nowhere near strong enough to clean the deposits. They have to be shipped out (or taken in).

There is such thing as a ghost code, so get it checked.

What would be your choice of injector cleaner?

Gumout Regane, BG44K, Schaeffers 131 Neutra, Schaeffers Soy Shield, Redline SI-1, LubeControl FP60, Chevron Techron

To learn more about these products, peruse the Additives foroum of www.bobistheoilguy.com

BG44K is a stronger product that would be effective if the vehicle has problems. I have a bottle but won't be using it for some time.

I am going to try to get some Gumout Regane, but I haven't seen it locally.

Chevron Techron is no longer available in British Columbia as Chevron has pulled the product from the shelf as a result of a complaint of some sort.
