As some of you know, my friend just got an used '93 3000GT VR4. After taking a ride in it, I know that no matter what I'll do, the Maxima will still be slow compared to it. Besides, having an automagic to start doesn't help either. My VB from Don, Koni's, Sprints(not installed yet), UDP, and Initial K indiglo gauge are the mods I recently ordered. I think these will be the last mods I will buy for my Max. My plan is to save up some money, so I can get an used 300ZXTT; manual tranny. My friend said he could locate one for me for a relatively good price, but I have to start saving because I don't have the funds now. He got the VR4 for about 11k. The problem is time. I'm not sure how long it will take for me to save up for the 300ZXTT. I'm just thinking ahead because why keep modding the Max if I want to get a 300ZXTT. My time frame for the 300ZXTT is about 1-2 years. Sure, I want to get it sooner, but I want to be realistic. I thought about buying a supercharger. However, judging from a few numbers(14s for a supercharged auto Max; that's it???), that's not exactly good to hear. Dropping around $3-4k for a supercharger will only get my automagic Maxima in the 14s? Heck, a 5spd. Maxima stock or with a few mods already can achieve that. Anyway, I'm done. Any thoughts on this?

If speed is what you want then save $3K to $4k on the down payment for the 300ZTT. At least you'll be getting your money's worth and if not, more for your money.

i agree with you totally. i am heading down the same direction. i also just recently rode in a very fast car, my friend has a 2001 phenoix (sp?) yellow integra type r. when that vtec kicks in, it feels like a small amount of nos. i have a 3rd gen gxe (one of the slowest maxs ever made...160 hp sohc) and plus its also an automatic. that little 4 banger teg puts alot of shame on my car when it comes to speed and handling. so i am also saving up to get a much faster/nicer looking/more aftermarket options car. i should have a newer car by next year (thanks to mom and dad pitching in). i was thinking 300 zx or supra tt but i just hope i can find one with not too many miles (seeing how both cars are discontinued and used). but for now, the maxima is strictly an A to B car...no more mods!

I thought about a SupraTT also, but it seem like everyone is trying to get their hands on a SupraTT. I want to stick with Nissan, so the 300ZXTT sounds better for me. Besides, it's not like the 300ZXTT is slow compared to the SupraTT.

You're right about finding one that has low mileage and in good condition. I think my friend got a steal for his '93 3000GT VR4. It only has 55k miles and the stock turbo seem like it's still in good condition. The only problem is the interior needs a bit of work. If I could get an used 300ZXTT for around that price, condition, and mileage, it would be great. Oh well, better start saving up for it. Maybe I don't have to wait as long as I think because my friend said I could finance the car, even though it's used; just have to get the bank to approve it. *crossing my fingers*

Even more reason to get the 300ZXTT. I was coming home from school and I was cruising along the highway. I wasn't going too fast, maybe about 70mph. Anyway, there was a slow car up ahead, so I decided to switch to the left lane. A Camry wanted to switch lane also and we almost hit. I let the Camry in as I quickly changed back to my lane. As the Camry passed, I went behind it. When there was a bit of room, I decided to punch it and pass that Camry; which I did, ever so slowlyyyyyy. I think that had to due more to my car being an automagic. However, after I passed that Camry, I said to myself...AAARRRGGGGHHHH!!! Maybe I could keep this car and build it for show. The 300ZXTT will be my "go" car.
