Thinking about painting the max. looking for opinions on different blacks

Well, I think the time has come to repaint my maxima. I've decided to keep it black, but I'm thinking bout slightly changing it. I would prefer to stick with an OEM color, not something custom. I've debated Honda's Nighthawk Black Pearl (black w/ a blue pearl), but I'd rather go with red pearl if I can find it. I can't seem to find a stock color that is like that however. I'm still open to other ideas also. Any thoughts/suggestions?

i've seen a civic in black with blue pearl...looks nice. but do it with a red pearl instead. i think it'll look pretty damn sweet, plus it'll be different. seems like everyone have blue pearl on their car these days.

yea, the civic has that "nighthawk black pearl" color which has blue pearl in it. I like the idea of the red color, but I'm trying to stick with a color I can come up with a paint code for...just in case I need to match it.

why do you want to paint it erty? body damage/paint chips & peeling off? or you just want that fresh new look? cuz your car looks clean. on a side note. i have always like the black MBZ uses. very classy. my gf has an 06 E350 black and when you wash it, full shinny GLOSS, can see yourself in it better than a mirror !

my paint has just taken a beating ove the years. I just want to freshen it up, but I've had it for 6-7 years now, so I slight change would eb nice. I love black too much to make a heavy change though

Why not just tell the body shop to put red pearl in the paint instead of blue?

Just looks like an excellent black paint job to me.

If your looking for a good black but want to be able to paint match later should you need to, go for the Z onxy black. It will look amazing (as long as the car is prepped, and sprayed correctly, plus wet sanded) then your car will look 100x better. Plus you can still paint match.

Go to some dealerships and check out their black selection. I've always wondered about Honda's Nighthawk Black Pearl. Never seen it up close though.

Is that the only black they have? Because I saw someone's '01 black Accord coupe and I dont' recall seeing any blue pearl in it.

How about BMW Carbon Black. It's a black, but under certain lights, it looks almost like a metallic blue...

M-B has 3 blacks. they have the standard black(prolly some sick process to paint it though) Obsidian Black Metallic, which i THINK has silver in it. It's a cold black, then they have " designo Mocha Black " which is a warm black. I think it's got brown or red pigment. . .that might be what you're looking for. check it out on the S550 @ mbusa.com

That BMW color is hot.Toyota has a black with silver metallics.Older saturns had black with either gold flakes or purple flakes that really stood out in the sun.
I sprayed my boys' altima nighthawk black a few years ago and it got a lot of compliments. That BMW color looks a lot better though.

I've got a deep evergreen max and If I was going to go black I'd definitely put some green flake in the paint. I love the fact it takes people a couple looks to realize the car is green...

Pearl always looks better, but have you thought of a flat black?

Honda Accords are black with blue pearl. Doesnt look too good after a few years, ie my 2000 accord. Integras are black with red pearl like my buddy 94 integ. My MB was jet black but i know they have it with silver metallic too. I tend to like just black black cuz with a nice coat of wax the luster and deep shine is better. I also thought about going another type of black when I repaint my 95 but i think im gonna stay with jet black.

yea,the blue one is the "Nighthawk black pearl". I ended up going with Subaru Obsidian Black Pearl. It was a few different colors in it. I looks nice. I just brought it back to the body shop for a couple spots they had to fix. I'll hopefully get pics in a week or so.

Nice! Im taking my Max in today to get it re-painted. Im probably just going to go to jet black. No matter what, its got to look better than the banged up faded paint job it has right now. LOL. Post up some pics and lets see.
