Got sound? - The process

Hi,

like everyone knows, the g35 exhaust sound is amazing !

I don't know if some one here tried the project, but there's mine :

my car :

My new muffler :

Comes from a 2003 g35.

My friend did it, the result? Same frequencies as the G35 but a bit lower. AMAZING SOUND!

I wondering if you can give me an advice on the resonator. Keep the stock (maxima)? Keep the one on the g35 OR NO resonator?

I'll keep you on date, I'm almost ready to start, miss some piping.

So you're going to mount it as is or are you going to turn it sideways to fit?

Nice rims btw...I wanted those a while ago!

I'll cut my spare space. I have a small emergency tire, i'll leave it in the trunk.

After that, i'll do a custom piping from the b-pipe to the muffler. Then, left side custom bracket to fix the muffler.

Finnally, start the car and enjoy. I'll do a video clip.

Wait for the next cars, if its sound great, I'll do the job on a 2002 maxima and a 93 miata turbo.

Several people have also done it custom.

not really a dual exhaust but Im interested in how you're gonna pull this off take some pics along the way!!
P.S.> Do you have the stock fuel tank? tha stock maxima exhaust goes all the way around the fuel tank, that exhaust looks like it runs right down the center.

Good luck with this, I am willing to bet you cut the pipes to make em fit around the fuel tank. and how are you gonna tuck that under the rear end?

if this makes sense: flip the muffler up side down, and cut the piping towards the muffler, then just run some custom piping to it.

just a thought not sure if it will work or not

It's not a dual exhaust. I believe there are only two (maybe one?) member that has an actual dual exhaust.

To me this is not worth it. No point in hacking up the spare tire well, bumper and all just to fit this muffler. But then again my car is a DD. Good luck.

I've wanted to do the same thing. After seeing your post and the replies so far I went ahead and looked under my Max to see if it is feasible. I would say this project is very difficult to do.
You need to deal with the spare tire well, gas tank, gas filler neck, exhaust routing and hardware to hang that muffler.

I LOVE the sound of that exhaust though. I heard that Nissan spent big bucks on getting the sound "just right", and it seems that every car they've built that has that "just right" sound uses the Camaro style transverse muffler with dual exhaust.

I wish someone could find the right recipe to get a single muffler to sound like that dual. I had a 2002 QX4 and after driving a FX35 I spent lots of time and money on all kinds of exhaust on the QX4 and I could never get the same sound as the FX35, even though the QX4 had the same VQ35DE. Like I said, Nissan spent big money tuning this new exhaust.

i would honestly me more interested in an aftermarket exhaust and rob the muffler, just make the muffler fit. To get that stock G35 exhaust to fit is waaay too much work, unless you modify the exhaust piping, then you will modify the sound though.
anyways if you're determined to run the full stock g35 exhaust like I said keep us updated on the hackin and slashing..=
