Exhaust Help!

Everything was fine when I decided I wanted to get a complete 2 1/2" Clone Q system from Warpspeed last week. I even called and asked them if they could do it. The lady who answered told me it wouldn't be a problem, but I would have to wait a week or so until they had the proper materials to make the complete system.

I call back today to check up and she tells me that they are no longer going to be making the complete systems for the maximas. She said I could still buy their y-pipe, but Dallas was not going to make any more catbacks.

So now i'm screwed. That complete system through Warpspeed would have only cost me $590+s/h. She also told me that what Dallas has been recommending to people is to buy their y-pipe and get a Pacesetter catback. I checked out a pacesetter catback on ebay:

linky

it runs for $350, but there is no way I'm putting a 4" exhaust on my car.

I have also conducted research and seen videos on the cattman catback ($599) and complete system ($1125), but am not completely sure how loud it is or how good the quality is.

Basically what I want is to completely replace my stock system with something that performs great, but at the same time, looks somewhat stock (i.e. no 4" tip), and is not extremely loud and obnoxious.

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I am going to agree with this...Stock muffler is not restrictive.

5th gen rear section? Isn't that dual tip? I just don't want it to look ricey by it being off center from the stock bumper.

How about a cattman b pipe with a magnaflow muffler? The magnaflows looks pretty similar to stock.

Would a warpspeed y-pipe and a new/fresh stock catback be a good work around?

Cattman muffler is not loud/drony, though it is louder than stock.

do this and be done with it...

get a NON warpspeed y pipe... the reason i say NON warpspeed is cuz they suck, mine is all rusted to $hit and it leaks like crazy from the flex section...

then if u can get a stock exhaust.. aka resonator muffler... Trust me u wont be disappointed... the car will have a nice tone....

just make sure u get a stock resonator if u want the car quiet....

I ended up talking to the owner of Cattman Performance, Brian Catts, and he helped me figure out what I needed. Cattman's complete system has a resonator on the b-pipe so this pretty much solved my problem.

I ordered the complete system (y-pipe down to muffler tip) for $1215 shipped. I can't wait to get it. Much better customer service than those warpspeed guys.

Will have vids/pics up soon as it gets here =)

I just put a SS Auto Chrome Y-Pipe/Headers, a Warpspeed Hi-Flow Cat, a Budget B-Pipe, and a stock OEM 4th gen muffler on 2 days ago and it's not too bad. I'm hoping the sound well get a little better once everything breaks itself in...but we'll see.

What do you think about the added power?

On the highway at low RPMS it moves very well. My engine no longer backfires (I had a leak in my flex pipe before) and with all new gaskets and the UIM/TB/IACV cleaned out my car is much better. I haven't noticed that much difference from a light....but I do enjoy driving my car again. .
