R34 headlights and HID's....

Although all the talk about beam pattern, I bit the bullet and purchased them... Now appearence is just superb for me... And soon I will do the retro however for the time being I NEED MY HID's.... Can I use the single beam HID and when need be use the high beam? I am sure you can as the high beam wire on the R34's are going towards the 9006 or 9005 (center bulb) bulb but I wanted to be certain... Is there a wiring diagram on here with the details...

Tks for your help...

Jae

With the R34 you have to use the single beam HID. So you you could do either HIDs in the Lows or the high or both. Or you could put the hids in the lows and keep the stock bulbs in the highs. Regardless you will need single beam hid for them... hope that answers your question

Your light output will be utter crap until you retrofit. Just warning you.

generally most ppl with a 2 bulb setup. GO HID on the lower beam the 9006 and leave the halogens in the high beam. because honestly high beams are rarely used and with HID in the low you really dont have a need to use highs only to single other drivers.

Light output stock on the R34 looks to be similiar to stock 9004's but just diffrent shaped. Both stink regaurdless.

Single beam it is.... Unfortunately i will have to deal with the crap output til the day I retro... i will be going HID on the lower beam... as for the 9005 (high beam) leaving it alone...

I will have to splice the wires to make the HID work on the low side with the
2-1 connector right?

I was wondering about this as well. since the R34 lights connect to the stock 9004 harness. wouldn't a 9004 hid kit split the signal lettting you have ur hid's in low beam and still be able to turn on ur high beam when you flick the switch??

You probably still have to put a wire and a diode going from the hi beam over to the low beam to keep the lows on.

I believe it should as the high beam wire (from the connector) runs to the 9005 bulb (high beam)... I will be trying it out to see what happens... Will post results once it is done....
