problem after installing flywheel!

Hey guys i just had a friend install my fidanza flywheel and clutch and after everything is put back together the car will not crank at all. Is there a spacer for the flywheel? it seems like the starter is not touching the flywheel at all, or maybe i was sent the wrong part. I havent had a chance to go there and take a look at the car this is just from what my friend told me. Has any body experienced this before? any input is greatly apreciated.

Thanks,

Have fun taking your transmission off again!

Did you put the timing plate from the stock flywheel on the new one? Does the fidanza flywheel have its own timing plate? Did you put the crank position sensor back on the trans?

what the problem seems to be is that the starter is not toughing flywheel at all... Starter spins but does not get a grip of the flywheel.. he said he put everything back the say it was... hmm.. i guess ill have to see it by myself tomorow.

It sounds like the timing plate from the old flywheel wasn't put on the Fidanza. Hope you still have your old flywheel and timing plate. I just put mine on two months ago, it was a direct replacement with the 5th gen clutch, and I love it. Good luck.

It doesn't sound like that at all.

Did he compare the old with the new? Is there a starter gear on the new? I thought I read about some people having to switch out the starter ring gear as well.......

So the starter is spinning but the engine doesnt turn over? Maybe the starter solenoid is just sticking, smack it a few times.

problem solved... at least a starting one... guy said he put an extra spacer and solved everything, however more problems arised... there is no clutch pressure, and as I let go of clutch pedal there is the worst sound of something rubbing against stuff, most likely the throw out bearing touching the clutch.... drained the clutch a bunch of times, no luck... took it the transmission shop they said there might still be air in the lines, and wanted me to pay them $280 to drain it for me. Im taking it to different shop tomorow where they can pressure drain it, therefore eliminating the need to take everything out.... if that does not help, then I guess there must be problems with transmission...

I thought I said i tried that.. no luck, mechanics told me that the bubbles might be up there by the fluid tank... therefore they need to remove everything off the firewall and raise it up so gravity would raise the bubbles out... 3.5 labor hours ~ $280 ... Bull**** I talked to the other transmission shop and they told me that they might be able to solve this by just pressure draining the system ~ $70... my best option now before taking the tranny off again.

ok.. here's the problem.. Transmission is bad... transmission shop wants to charge me at least 800 bucks just for labor to rebuild it, parts not included. Anyone knows where I could get a good transmission cheaper? Already cheking out classifields.. not an easy part to locate..

Psshhh, $800 and I can guaruntee even if they did rebuild it that thgey wouldn't bother shimming it. How far is ohio from pennsylvania? I thought it was within a 2-hr drive, maybe I'm mistaken, also, I don't like the sound of this one bit, how is your trannsmision bad? Wasn't it fine when you originally went in for the flywheel/clutch install? I think you need to make your freind pull the tranny free of charge and have him compare the old flywheel to the new, I'm still confused about this spacer that more than likely re-engineered your entire release assembly.
