Another 6speed 4th gen up and running

Well I would have been running if I would not have swap to 555 at the same time as doing the 6speed swap. I have now put about 52 miles on it with no tranny issue at all! I had to make a custom carrier bracket to let the passer 6speed axel slide over into tranny not to have a leak. MAx5speed is having the same problem but will do a custom bracket also. Well gas milage should in prove as going about 55 is right at about 1900 in 6th. IM sure the car will pull better too as im also turbo charged too. I havent got the tune right yet and nor the new clutch broke in so give me about 600 miles and a trip to the track and ill have some #s.

Is the carrier bracket the thing that holds the pass side axel about half way along where that bearing is mid way?? The one that has the three lil bolts on it on a fourth gen.. the one that is a HUGE pain to slide the axel out of the first time?

yeah the other two 6speed tilley and the other guy max obs something I dont know what they did. But both me and max5speed has this problem! he has the 3.5 I got a 3.0. Both mine and his would not go in enough because of the carrier bracket. Iv order all kinds from nissan and junk yard for a 02 and 03 but none would work so I made my own

Wouldn't the 3.5 6spd bracket work perfectly??

That'd be assuming the distance from the hub to the diff is the same between the A32 and A33.

Well we wasnt woried about that we was concerned with the distance from the tranny to the carrier bracket. Me nor max5speed could get the axel to go in and not pour. i tryed two 3.5 brackets with no luck but then I though that I had the wong axel but that would mean that Max5speed got the wrong one too. SO i went to the parts house and they all gave me the same axel. SO i go tired of looking for one and made my own.

That doesn't really make any sense. If OEM 6-speed axles work in a 5.5 gen, they should work in a 4th gen. The distance between the tranny and bracket isn't a variable. Weird.

yeah I know its weird! Either I could not find the right bracket and believe me i tryed I got two here and neither worked. Or thier is a wrong axel going around

Unless the passanger side of the 6-speed dif is closer to the drivers side than is is on the 5-speed....

I'd still like to see pics if at all possible, it would be much much appreciated, I'm assuming it's just a matter of shaving the bracket some?

Even if that's the case, the 6-speed axle should take up the slack. I see no reason for the 6-speed passenger side axle to be long enough when installed in an A33B and not long enough in an A32. The distance from the diff to the bearing bracket is a constant regardless of which car it's installed in.

^ especially on a 3.5 engine.
You guys are saying MAX5SPEED, who had a 3.5, couldn't use a set of 6-speed axles with it and get it to line up? That makes absolutely NO SENSE whatsoever.

Unless he had an A34 engine and tried to use A33 axles or vice versa and for some reason those don't line up?

The fact that people are using both 3.0 and 3.5 blocks interchangeably with 5-speeds and 5-speed axles means that the same should be true for 6-speeds and 6-speed axles. That proves that whether you're using the 3.0 or 3.5 block, the axle bracket mounts to the block at the exact same place.

Now that I think about it, I dont think MAX5SPEED ever tried to use an OEM 6-speed passenger axle. He went straight from trying to mod the bracket by shaving material off to buying a custom axle that was 1" longer, or something like that. That's how I remember it going anyway.

Did either of you try an actual 6-speed passenger axle?

yes both of us have 6 speed axels
I ordered mine for a 03. I agree with you totally No matter what car it goes in it will always be the same. Thats what I thought too that it had to be the bracket but I got one for a auto 02 and a auto 03 with no luck and then got one for a 03 6speed and seen pics of a 02 6speed all the brackets were the same bracket and none would make the axel slide in
