Magnetic drain plug for 5spd?
When my transmission was rebuilt, it was discovered that the internal magnet for catching shavings was missing. I'm thinking of buying a magnetic drain plug to take the place of the drain plug that you remove with a 1/2" drive ratchet on the front of the transmission.
My question is, what's the thread pitch of the plug?

just buy a small neodymium boron magnet and RTV it to the inside of the drain plug. that's what we do for the transmissions we can't get actual magnetic drain plugs for. neodymium boron magnets are so much more powerful than the stock trash magnet it's ridiculous.
actually there are better places in our transmission to put trash magnets than on the drain plug but you can't access them without opening the trans back up.

His tranny was rebuild before, inside was painted and there was alot paint inside for some reason- like shift forks and even the diff carrier looked painted to me.
I couldn't get the diff bearings off the carrier to save my life, and I've done enough of these trannies.
The magnet was missing, I tried to find something in my junk pile of tranny parts.... oh well.

Neodymium magnets will lose their magnetic properties if heated above 175° F (80° C).
